Banyan is a tall evergreen tree of the genus Zanthoxylum, with glabrous twigs, papery leaves, oval or oblong; Dark green on the surface, glabrous, greenish-white on the back, densely covered with micro-dotted stalactites; Female flowers have stalks, male flowers are nearly sessile, inflorescences are hidden head inflorescences, flowers are divided into three types: female flowers, male flowers and gall flowers, the ovary is nearly spherical, and the flower column is short and concave; Ficus pear-shaped, grows on leafless branches emanating from old stems and droops.
It is found in the eastern foothills and North Hot Spring Park of Jinyun Mountain National Nature Reserve in Beibei District, Chongqing, China, where it grows at an altitude of 300-500 meters above sea level on the steep walls of limestone or in shady places under the rocks.
Beibei Banyan tree, as the name suggests, is a unique tree species native to Beibei. It is said that at its rarest, there were only 6 trees in Jeonbuk. In order to protect the growth value of this plant in beicheng, beibei southwest university attached middle school has also taken large-scale measures to widely use beibei banyan in the landscaping of the campus. In 2015, Beibei banyan was included in the "List of Wild Plants under Key Protection in Chongqing" (the first batch).

According to field surveys, the wild population of Beibei banyan is only distributed in the north hot spring of Beibei Jinyun Mountain, and grows in the steep walls of limestone at 300-500m and the wet places under the rock, and now there are only 5 plants, 1 male and 4 females. Chongqing Jiangbei Flower Garden is cultivated, but it is all female. The author also encountered this species by chance in Kita Onsen, and speculated that the strain was a male strain.
