Equipment used by the Colombian military to explore San Jose

The latest photos of the wreckage of the legendary treasure ship "San Jose", which has excited many explorers around the world, have been released.

The Colombian Navy explained on June 6 (local time) that this is the clearest and most detailed image of San Jose released to date.

300 years ago, in June 1708, the San Jose sank in the Caribbean while fighting the British fleet off the coast of Cartagena, Colombia. About 600 sailors were reportedly killed. At that time, San Jose was loaded with about 200 tons of gold, silver and emeralds from the Spanish colonies of Bolivia and Peru, ready to be delivered to the king of Felipe.

According to the Associated Press, the present value of these treasures is estimated at $17 billion. The images released this time were taken with cameras firing underwater equipment from a depth of 900m on the seabed, and circular objects that looked like gold coins were scattered on the floor, and the remains of pottery cups with exquisite patterns and cannons half-buried in the soil could also be seen.

The exact location of the ship's silence was only confirmed after the sinking in 2015. The site of the sinking was Colombia, the shipowner was Spain, and the source of the treasure was Bolivia.
