Grand Mercure Khaolak Bangsak is located in the prestigious Kaolak Phang Nga resort and is currently open to all guests in November 2021.
Landscape Tectonix Limited was appointed Landscape Design Consultant in 2018, forming a team with Habita (Architectural Design Consultant), MakeAscene (Interior Design Consultant) and Asia Eco Pond (Bio-Pond Consultant) to propose collaborative design from design concept, master planning to completion.
The plot is a long, narrow linear plot close to the waterfront, so the design concept is sure to introduce design solutions to maximize the physical planning of the plot, highlight the most important selling points of the project, and enhance the value of the project.
Inspired by the settlements of local villages along the canal, the hotel boasts a beautiful tranquil tropical retreat with pristine white sand beaches across the Andaman Sea, and lush green strips of tropical gardens created by the main features of the project.
A long linear bio-canal has been designed as a landscape feature to create an interior atmosphere that complements the architecture, strategically located in the centre of the grounds, connecting the hotel's lobby and garden pool, all-day dining restaurant and spa, as well as beachfront facilities including the main pool. The eco-friendly canals are chemical-free waterways that create a pleasant atmosphere for the rooms.
The landscape is hidden in the lush greenery, the landscape design is specially designed for three layers of planting, the large tree creates harmony with the architecture and the outdoor space, the small tree creates the visual impact of the line of sight level, and the shrub and ground are created for human senses and intimacy.
Designed as two-storey traditional houses with different orientations and appearances overlooking the pool, canals and gardens, the private marina creates a pleasant tropical atmosphere, the rooms' primary privacy and unparalleled scenic settings.
The entrance is designed as a welcoming little courtyard with lotus ponds, iconic trees and raised flowerpots forming a strong landscape axis with the building. These are natural materials with a slight contrast of wood grains illustrating the interesting visual impact in compact outdoor spaces.
There are two communal swimming pools on site: the garden pool and the main swimming pool. The Garden Pool is located off the lobby and is surrounded by lush tropical garden vegetation, where guests can swim and relax in a quiet area. The main pool is adjacent to the beach, kids club and specialty restaurant, overlooking the pristine Andaman Sea.
