Artist Giovanni Migliala (1785 - 1837) - in venice and Milan's old streets

Architectural landscape by the Italian artist Giovanni Migliala at the beginning of the nineteenth century.

Artist Giovanni Migliala was born in Milan in October 1785 to a family of Italian artisans. In his youth, he worked as a decorator at the Teatro Carcano and then at the famous Teatro alla Scala.

From 1810 onwards, he began painting watercolours and oil miniatures on canvas, silk and ivory. In 1812, Giovanni Migliara participated in the exhibition of the Brera Academy for the first time. The young artist exhibited four works in the exhibition, which was well received by the public. Due to the dominance of neoclassicism in Italian painting at the time, the young artist quickly became a favorite of the Italian aristocracy with his landscape paintings, filigree techniques and high-quality works.

In 1822 Giovanni Miliala became a professor at the Brera Academy, and eleven years later he was offered the position of court painter to King Charles Albert of Sardinia. Four years later, in 1837, the artist died.
