After learning that Qu Yuan had thrown himself into the river, the local people immediately rowed a boat to rescue him, but they did not find Qu Yuan's body. In order to send mourning, people swam over the rivers, and gradually developed into dragon boat competitions. The people were afraid that the fish and shrimp in the river would eat his body, so they went home and brought rice balls and threw them into the river, and later formed the custom of eating rice dumplings. Therefore, later generations also regarded the Dragon Boat Festival as a festival to commemorate Qu Yuan.
Of course, in the folklore about the Dragon Boat Festival, in addition to Qu Yuan's statement of throwing the river, there are also memorials to Wu Zixu, filial daughter Cao E, Jie Zi Tui, Lian Official Chen Lin, Yue Wang Gou Jian and so on.
