Recently, BYD has two blockbuster news: one is the high-end brand "Interstellar", and the other is the new car "Seagull".
At present, there is not much news about "interstellar", but fortunately, "Seagull" has exposed spy photos. Although the "June launch" of the online transmission may not be realistic at the current schedule, since the relevant information has been spoiled, we can still satisfy our curiosity first.
The first point to correct is that many previous articles on the Internet said that the positioning of seagulls is a mini car, and also said that "seagulls open the mini car pattern by their own efforts" and "BYD does not want to be a good seagull of Wuling Hongguang MINIEV". But in fact, the seagull is actually a small car. There is no basis for the oral argument, as evidenced in the picture above.
Regarding the details of the new car, the official has not released much content at present. However, according to the spy photos and the information that has been exposed before, it can be determined that the seagull also adopts the design concept of "marine aesthetics", and at the same time is a four-door and five-seat layout, and the front part of the car is somewhat similar to the dolphin. However, although the positioning is the same, the size of the seagull seems to be one size smaller than that of the dolphin. For reference, the dolphin has a length, width and height of 4070/4125*1770*1570(mm) and a wheelbase of 2700(mm).
In terms of interior, we can also refer to the Dolphin models on sale, and the seagulls of the same series and positioning will most likely also be equipped with adaptive rotating suspension Pads, fishtail shaped multi-functional steering wheels and reel-type air conditioner buttons.
In terms of power, the industry believes that seagulls should be slightly less powerful than dolphins. As for the price that the outside world is most concerned about, we can push it backwards according to the dolphins on sale. If the final pricing is really so, the future of the new car will be directly in competition with Chery Boundless Pro, Zero Run T03 and so on (after all, the price is comparable).
At present, there are still too many factors left for seagulls to determine, and roughly speaking, BYD's brand power can help seagulls gain a first-mover advantage to a certain extent. Although the size is one lap smaller than the dolphin, the difference in positioning should make the seagull larger than the Chery Boundless Pro and the Zero Run T03, and a similar situation may exist in the power part.
In this case, seagulls may use the price advantage to complete a dimensionality reduction strike. By extension, Seagull may also single-handedly open a new pattern in the small car market, and may even become the "Wuling Hongguang MINIEV" in the A0-level market.
