The little guy has a particularly long tail, short front legs, and thick and long hind legs. Originally, the long-eared jerboa, known as the "Mickey Mouse in the Desert," is one of the 100 most endangered species in the world, and was listed on the IUCN's 2016 Red List of Threatened Species.
The long-eared jerboa is small, weighs about 40 grams, has large and long ears, and has a tail length that is almost twice the length of the body. The back of the long-eared jerboa has light yellowish brown, light russet or sand gray depending on the region and subspecies, and the rest of the parts are mostly pure white; the dorsal back of the tail is earthy yellow and the ventral surface is white; there are long hairs at the end of the tail to form hairy spikes, and the base of the tail spike is black and the tip is white.
The long-eared jerboa is mostly nocturnal, feeding on plant seeds, young leaves and insects, and can jump more than 1 meter high in the air, mostly inhabiting desert environments.
