Mawu Expressway has been in operation for 12 years since its opening in 2010, and recent inspections by the high-speed maintenance department found that the centralized drainage system of some bridges has shown signs of aging due to long-term operation of pipelines, and there are hidden dangers of poor drainage and flooding.
In order to ensure that the bridge drainage system is in good condition before the arrival of heavy rainfall during the flood season, the Second Inspection Office of Hubei Jiaotong Edong Operation Company, which is responsible for the maintenance of the Mawu Expressway, organized professional forces to upgrade the centralized drainage system of the Mawu High-speed Bridge, the main content of which is to increase the water storage tank, increase the rainwater grate, rainwater well and other rainwater collection facilities, transform the drainage pipe, increase the size of the drainage pipe and improve the drainage capacity.
"The objects of this upgrade and transformation cover most of the bridges such as upper span rivers, roads, railways, farmland, etc., a total of more than 20, on the one hand, it improves the performance of the bridge drainage system, on the other hand, from the perspective of environmental protection, it prevents the rainwater from flowing freely to the water, road area, and farmland, and also plays a role in promoting the protection of the local environment." Liang Musen, head of the Second Inspection Office, said.
