During Luo Kebang's childhood, China and Vietnam still maintained friendly relations of "comrades and brothers", but with the advent of the 1970s, Vietnam began to completely fall into the camp of "pro-Soviet anti-Chinese" and looked at China's border territories and the waters of the South China Sea.

Opposite the Changtian villagers' outpost, there were 1 company and 4 Vietnamese positions in Gong'an Tun. As Sino-Vietnamese relations gradually deteriorated, Luo Kebang often witnessed the Provocation of Chinese territory by the Vietnamese garrison on the other side, and in addition to his indignation, he also became more and more determined to defend his homeland and join the army, and aspired to become a militia fighter on the border. Unfortunately, due to some sensitive reasons, his wish has not been successfully realized.
It was not until the early morning of March 12, 1979, when the Chinese and Vietnamese troops were fighting, that a company of troops suddenly moved from the Vietnamese position opposite the village of Changtian, and the troops approached the 1250 heights defended by the Chinese militia posts in four directions, in an attempt to sneak attack at night. Fortunately, the militia at the post maintained a high degree of vigilance at all times, and soon discovered the plot of the Vietnamese army and immediately returned fire, and a fierce exchange of fire ensued between the two sides.

Indeed, in China, the criteria for joining the army are extremely high, and even the background and origin of his ancestors are slightly flawed, not to mention that in that special era, Luo Kebang was already controversial because of his origins, could the militia post really make him a militiaman?

At this extremely critical moment of tension, Luo Kebang, carrying a large box of ammunition, braved the rain of bullets and bullets to rush to the soldiers.
This box of ammunition from Luo Kebang undoubtedly sent charcoal in the snow, relieving the urgent needs of the militia fighters. With ammunition support, the outpost militia immediately launched a counterattack, reversing the previous disadvantage. In the fierce battle, the militiaman Yang Guanglong was unfortunately hit by the enemy and died on the spot. Luo Kebang was sad, and angrily took the gun in Yang Guanglong's hand and fought with the Vietnamese army.
Sino-Vietnamese War
After a tenacious battle, the militia post was finally successfully defended, and the Vietnamese troops, who had suffered heavy casualties, had to return in disastrous defeat. This victory was due to Luo Kebang's timely support and tenacious battle, and at the same time, the loyalty and heroism he showed in the battle also successfully touched the organization. Thus, with his heroic performance in this battle, Luo Kebang officially became a veritable outpost militiaman, fulfilling his long-held wish.

Residents on both sides of the Sino-Vietnamese border have a lot of contacts in peacetime, and their languages are similar and their customs are similar, so the Vietnamese people scold him in the local Hmong language, and he naturally understands it. Luo Kebang sneered, "Who will clean up who is not sure." Soon, the opportunity to "pack" the Vietnamese army was sent to Luo Kebang.

At that time, Luo Kebang was using the terrain cover to quietly touch the opposite side to spy on the enemy situation, and lurked until noon, when a disheveled Vietnamese soldier emerged from the fortifications and immediately walked to the Changtian post to pee. In the face of the provocative insults of the Vietnamese army, Luo Kobang and his fellow militia were indignant and demanded a lesson from the Vietnamese army, who did not know whether they were alive or dead. Luo Kebang directly raised the gun in his hand, pulled the trigger, and gave the Vietnamese soldier who peed at the post a headshot on the spot.
Since then, Luo Kebang has played a name of fear among the Vietnamese army. The Vietnamese army held a grudge against the director of the mysterious outpost, believing that being shot by the Chinese militia was a great shame, so it was necessary to kill Luo Kebang to feel balanced in his heart. In order to retaliate against Luo Kebang, the Vietnamese army even offered a sky-high reward of 30,000 yuan, which was quite the meaning of poor donkey skills.
