Distribution
It breeds in most parts of northern China and overwinters in lakes in southern and central China
Features
It is characterized by a pink mouth and feet. There is no white at the base of the mouth. The upper body feathers are gray and the feather margins are white, giving the upper body a scallop-shaped pattern. The chest is light smoke brown. The mouth and tarsal flesh are red. Claw black. Feet pink.
It inhabits lakes and river beaches. Choose an environment with dense aquatic plants to hide. Come out in the morning, dusk and at night to forage for food. Feeds on the roots, stems and seeds of aquatic plants.
