In the 1984 NBA Draft, Jordan was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the third overall pick in the first round, preceded by Hakim Olajuwon and Sam Bowie.

In the 1984-1985 season, in his first year in the NBA, Jordan won the title of rookie of the year, averaging 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. This year, Jordan also led the team to the playoffs, but unfortunately the team was eliminated by the Bucks 1-3, stopping the first round, and averaged 29.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists in these 4 games.
