According to a previous announcement, Hon Hai Group signed an asset purchase agreement with Lordstown Motors in November last year. Hon Hai will acquire an existing maternity home in Lordstown Motors, Ohio, USA, and will complete the asset delivery transfer in the future, which has been approved by local regulators.

As Hon Hai's first electric vehicle manufacturing base in North America, it is reported that from the second half of this year, Hon Hai will produce its first electric pickup truck model here and will supply some parts. In the future, it will also be manufactured here for more electric vehicle customers.

It is worth mentioning that just a week ago, The well-known foreign whistleblower Leaks ApplePro said that Apple is likely to entrust Hon Hai Group, a long-term partner who assembles iPhones, to be responsible for car production, and the release of Apple cars will still be around 2025, and the positioning will also be in the high-end market of 100,000 US dollars (about 660,000 yuan) and above, directly competing with Tesla's Model S.

However, subsequently, Foxconn, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Group, told the domestic media that it would not comment on market rumors. At that time, the report also said that from the previous actions, Foxconn was constantly increasing investment in the field of automotive foundry to attract Apple's attention.

For now, taking down the Lordstown Motors plant may be the first step in its actions.
