Many people in the German eagle's nest (Kehlsteinhaus) and the small town of Ramsau came to Salzburg to see Königssee and left, but in fact, it is around Königssee

Kehlsteinhaus and ramsau

Many people come to Salzburg to see The Kings Lake and leave, but there are other, more niche attractions around the Königssee. One of the most mysterious is the Eagle's Nest. It was a palace built by Hitler's subordinates for his 50th birthday, where the Fuehrer often received important guests. Most of it was later blown up by the Allies, and the rest is now converted into a restaurant. The palace was built on top of a hill and was accessed through a long tunnel and then by a splendid elevator. The view from the top of the hill is nice, overlooking the nearby Königssee and eagles soaring in the air. I guess that's why the Fuehrer loves it here.

To go to eagle's nest, also from the Salzburg train station, take the 840 bus (get on the bus to buy a day ticket, 11 euros) to the terminal station Berchtesgaden, transfer to the 838 road to the Dokumentation Obersalzberg and get off. Then buy a ticket for the Eagle's Nest for 28 euros to get there. After the tour, basically more than an hour is enough.

It is still early to return to Berchtesgaden by the original road, so you can take the 846 route to Ramsau kirche, which is the town of Ramsau. The town is small and you can walk for half an hour to take pictures of the places that are worth taking pictures. If you still want to go deeper, you can take the 846 road and continue to hittersee to see another lake. However, be aware of the shuttle time for the return!
