This group of people become AI scientists, but the goal is to make people unaware of the existence of intelligence丨CCF C

What is the next stage of artificial intelligence?

Ubiquitous intelligence.

This concept was first proposed at the Tencent Forum of the World Artificial Intelligence Congress in 2020.

It's still a fresh word for most people, but its meaning isn't hard to understand.

With the promotion of technologies such as big data, human-computer interaction, and 5G communication, ubiquitous intelligent technologies for data such as images, vehicles, and devices have quietly "started".

The latest CCF C event launched by the CCF CTO Club came to OPPO, focusing on "Building a Ubiquitous Vision of Ubiquitous Intelligence and Thinking in the Era of Mutual Integration of All Things", and staged a wonderful discussion:

"Ubiquitous Intelligent Perception services will not only bring great benefits to our lives, but will also further subvert our technological perceptions."

"After the service is over, you don't have to worry about it causing trouble to your life, just use it as you go, this is the future of ubiquitous perception service technology."

"Speaking of on-the-go, how to solve its low-power problem?"

Serve invisible, not disturbed when not in use

What is ubiquitous intelligent services? What are its features?

This is the first question that everyone thinks about in the Panel dialogue session.

As Wang Tao, senior vice president of Aerospace Hongtu, said, ubiquitous intelligent services are literally ubiquitous and ready-to-use multi-source intelligent services.

However, this "omnipresence" must be combined with the application scenario and serve the invisible, so that people can enjoy the charm of ubiquitous perceptual service.

How to understand?

Here he gave an example of an intelligent sweeping robot: as a robot, you don't need to play a sentence "The location has been updated, the map has been updated" every time you change places, instead, you only need to quietly complete your cleaning task.

He Xiaodong, chairman of the CCF CTO Club, deputy director of the Enterprise And Work Committee, vice president of Jingdong Group, and executive director of Jingdong AI Research Institute, agreed: "Ubiquitous" only needs to appear when we need it, and after the service is over, don't worry that it will always bother you.

From a To C perspective, ubiquitous intelligence can improve the user experience and truly understand the requirements; for To B, in addition to this, it can also improve productivity. This is the ubiquitous perception service technology of the future.

In the view of Huang Tiejun, professor of peking university school of computer science and dean of Beijing Zhiyuan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, due to the limited channel and processing ability of human information obtained, ubiquitous intelligence has increased greatly due to the ability to obtain, obtain speed and processing speed of various information, so it is more to provide us with processed information and let us better understand the world.

Of course, he emphasizes that the system doesn't work for you alone, it just serves you when you need it.

Du Yuqiang, director of the Multimedia and Interconnection Development Department of OPPO Software Engineering Division, also said that the most important thing in ubiquitous service is "service to find people, not people to find services", "but in this process, we must reduce the interruption to users." ”

As one of the core technologies, the human-machine interface is not natural enough

After the concepts and characteristics of ubiquitous intelligence have been clarified, how should these ideas be implemented?

According to the general idea, we can also divide the ubiquitous intelligent perception service technology into three levels: software, hardware and service.

What are the core technologies of each layer? And what problems do these technologies need to solve if they are to reach what we call their ideal state?

First of all, Huang Tiejun believes that human-machine interface is one of the core technologies.

But the current human-machine interface still has a lot of room for improvement, such as wifi Internet access, protocol and then improve it, first verify who the device is, perhaps can be done anytime and anywhere automatically connected to the wifi, do not need to ask the password one by one.

Further afield, in terms of perception, when we look at the phone walking, the screen is so big, is it possible to avoid bumping into others?

In the future, if we can make the connection of these aspects more natural, the power of the Internet of Everything will be stronger, and it will be able to drive true ubiquitous intelligence.

He Xiaodong believes that the current academic research on human-computer interaction technology is slightly lacking. But in fact, in the industry, every 20 years or there will be a new generation of interactive technology, such as from the command line, keyboard, mouse to touch screen... At first glance, they may seem insignificant, but the companies behind them have become trillion-dollar industries.

What will the next generation of interaction technology be? He believes that Conversational AI technology is a good direction, including recent industry exploration of products such as smart speaker smart hardware, once the breakthrough, perhaps the next trillion-dollar industrial opportunity will arrive.

Wang Tao analyzed from the perspective of process processing that ubiquitous intelligence in turn needs to perceive collection, storage connection, calculation and management, and the most critical thing is how to dispatch these capabilities, followed by how to present the results, which is more appropriately used in the corresponding scenario, that is, human-computer interaction is another key technology.

In addition, perception is also a very important point in ubiquitous intelligent services.

Finally, Guo Yandong, chief scientist of OPPO Intelligent Perception, proposed that low power consumption will also become a key technology from the perspective of being in the servo state at all times when ubiquitous service is served.

And Dr. Guo Yandong believes that high-precision positioning, that is, how to transmit data back to users, is also very important.

A future society full of ubiquitous intelligence

The panel's final question: What will a society full of ubiquitous intelligence look like in the future?

In this regard, Du Yuqiang said that in the future era of ubiquitous intelligence, users can form an exclusive intelligent image on XR devices through high-speed transmission and rendering, so that users can solve pain points in work and life in the same scene anytime and anywhere.

Wang Tao believes that with the development of the country and the construction of cities, through multiple time-space perception capabilities such as mobility and real-time, a perfect city-level ubiquitous intelligent emergency response system can be built, so that every user can enjoy ubiquitous intelligent perception services at all times.

Qin Zheng, director of the CCF and director of OPPO's industry-university-research affairs department, concluded that the "ubiquitous" ubiquitous intelligent perception service can not only bring great benefits to our lives, but also further subvert our scientific and technological cognition.

At the same time, it will also become the core driving force of a new round of industrial change, and more industries and intelligent technologies will be innovatively integrated in the future, giving birth to more new formats and models.

"I hope that everyone will keep catching up when paying attention to technological development, break through the current technical bottleneck, and create an era of mutual integration of all things."

ps. Before the Panel dialogue officially began, Huang Tiejun brought you the theme sharing of "Ultra-high Speed Pulse Vision Camera and System".

And Chang Jianglong, chief expert of multimedia and interconnection development from OPPO Software Engineering Division, also shared the theme of "From Ubiquitous to Ubiquitous Media Experience".

Finally, we would like to note that the next phase of CCF C will be hosted by Qianxin on May 20.
