Lenovo and Xiaomi make a choice
When U.S. companies and other companies have implemented supply cuts, the U.S. side has also continued to put pressure on Chinese companies, especially named SMIC, Lenovo, Xiaomi and other companies, and stressed that if they do not participate, they will be restricted from purchasing key technologies and components.
Despite this, Chinese companies have not explicitly stated that they want to participate in the supply cut, nor have they ever issued a statement of supply cut like that of us companies.
However, these companies are indeed restricted by the United States, such as SMIC will be included in the "entity list" in 2020, and the shipment of equipment or materials of us companies needs to apply for permission, but SMIC has not cooperated with enterprises in Russia in fact.
Similarly, Lenovo and Xiaomi also rely on the products of American companies, Lenovo uses CPU chips such as Intel and AMD, as well as Microsoft's Windows system; Xiaomi uses Qualcomm, Broadcom and other chips, as well as Google's Android system.
The point is that these US companies that Lenovo and Xiaomi rely on have also implemented the action of cutting off supply to Russia without exception.
However, Lenovo and Xiaomi are different from SMIC in that Lenovo and Xiaomi have developed well in the Russian market and their market share is not small. Lenovo ranked first in global sales of PCs and was the second largest equipment supplier in Russia last year.
Xiaomi mobile phone sales in Russia are also good, Huawei mobile phone sales due to lack of core sales decline, Millet directly won the Second place in the Russian market, once surpassed Apple, second only to the first ranked Samsung, but also an important part of Xiaomi's overseas market.
But it is very helpless that the US companies they rely on have cut off supply to Russia. Although they do not want to lose the Market in Russia, they cannot stay out of it. Although neither Lenovo nor Xiaomi has issued a statement, it is also reducing shipments to Russia.
According to people familiar with the matter, due to sanctions and pressure from suppliers, both Lenovo and Xiaomi are reducing shipments to Russia.
The key moment has to be Huawei
This is actually not surprising, because the two companies are too dependent on U.S. companies, without Intel's CPU, Microsoft's system, Lenovo computer can not do it. Similarly, without Qualcomm's chips and Google's system, Xiaomi mobile phones will not work.
These core supply chains are in the hands of US companies, everyone has cut off supply, and Lenovo and Xiaomi can only quietly make a choice.
It is said that Lenovo has long stopped supplying, but now the inventory is still sold in Russia. And millet has long been signs, before the Russian media reported that the sales of mobile phones in Chinese companies rose sharply, Huawei mobile phone sales even rose 3 times, millet due to lack of stock rose much.
According to a distributor operating in Russia, Xiaomi has not shipped to Russia in recent weeks, which is why sales have not risen much. Huawei has not been affected, as can be seen from the 3-fold increase in Huawei mobile phone sales.
Compared with Lenovo and Xiaomi, Huawei has experienced many rounds of sanctions by the United States and has long ceased to be afraid of the supply cut off of US companies. Moreover, in recent years, Huawei has been building a domestic supply chain and has basically achieved "de-beautification" in the important product supply chain.
Although the huawei mobile phone chip problem has not been completely solved, Yu Chengdong said that the supply of mobile phones will be greatly improved this year.
And at the critical moment, companies in Russia also chose Huawei. After the local mobile phone company in Russia was cut off by Google for Android, it immediately said that it would test the Hongmeng system, and it will also launch a mobile phone based on the Hongmeng system in the second half of this year.
In terms of communications, after Ericsson announced the indefinite suspension of supply and Nokia announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, the Russian side said that it would strengthen cooperation with Chinese companies such as Huawei, and huawei also delivered 17 million yuan of communication equipment to Russian companies as scheduled.
Huawei has always treated customers in all regions equally, and will never stop cooperating with customers for other reasons.
It can be seen that Huawei will not reduce or stop supplying to Russia like Lenovo and Xiaomi, while Lenovo and Xiaomi cannot be as fearless as Huawei. This gives us an important enlightenment, Chinese enterprises should strengthen self-research and master core technologies at an early date.
The road ahead is still tortuous, and Chinese enterprises should take this as a warning, establish an independent supply chain as soon as possible, and get rid of foreign restrictions!
