Red Network Moment News May 5 news (correspondent Zhu Zhongda Guo Yinghua) On May 4, in the territory of Yanshou Yao Nationality Township in Rucheng County, for the first time, the national second-level key protected wild plant Taiwan Du Garlic Orchid was found, which is currently in the flowering stage and has a gorgeous flower color.

Taiwan garlic orchid has high horticultural value. They are not tall, the plant is usually only more than 10 cm, small and simple; the base has an ovoid-shaped pseudo-bulb, the top of the leaf, when the flower blooms, the bulb pulls out a flower leaf, gives birth to a large flower, a lifetime of a plant only one flower, is a very high value orchid in the orchid family. These orchids are mostly distributed in Taiwan, Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi. It prefers clouds and fog, high humidity, and low temperatures; it often grows in yellow soil on the edge of wet ditches and in the hills and mountains under the rock walls of the valley.

Due to the excellent ornamental value and high market price of Taiwan's garlic orchid, in the past decade or so, people have over-mined, resulting in the disappearance of more than half of their populations. At present, Taiwan's garlic orchid has been listed in China's "National List of Second-Level Protected Plants" and has been listed in the "IUCN Red List of Endangered Species", and identified as a vulnerable species.
