Visit the Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was founded in 1958, located in Menglun Town, Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, is a comprehensive research institution and scenic spot integrating scientific research, species conservation and science education, and was rated as a national 5A-level tourist attraction in 2011.
The Botanical Garden covers an area of about 11.25 km², collects more than 12,000 species of living plants, has 38 plant areas, and preserves a original tropical rainforest with an area of about 2.5 km².
The park is divided into two parts, the eastern district and the western district, the main attraction is in the western district, the eastern district is a narrow tropical rainforest, suitable for hiking through.

The Dai people are the most representative ethnic group in Xishuangbanna, and regard peacocks and elephants as mascots. The Dai people like to live by the water, love to clean, often bathe, women love to wash their hair, every April there is a grand festival - Songkran Festival. Hence the nickname "The Nation of Water".
Dai women traditionally wear short sleeved short sleeves and tube skirts. Xishuangbanna Dai women, wearing white or crimson underwear, with a small waist, wide hem, and various colored tube skirts.
Dai men wear collarless plackets or short shirts with large plackets and small sleeves, long tube pants, felt in cold weather, and mostly white or green cloth to wrap their heads.
