Lætitia Jacquetton is a French artist who combines rock and glass to create a series of poetic blown glass vases with intricate ingenuity.
Fascinated by the Japanese minimalist style and passionate about the aesthetics and symbolism of stone gardens, Jacquetton learned to blow glass on a rope, thus embarking on her path of blowing glass, experimenting with traditional blowpipes and refining her skills with the best glass blowing masters on the Glass Island of Venice, Murano.
Through the intricate technique of blowing glass, Jacquetton creates a series of uniquely shaped glass artworks suitable for the home, using glass to outline the contours of stones on riverbeds and hillsides, and using the fragility of glass to highlight the toughness of rocks, so that organic and abstract forms maintain a clever balance.
"I consciously collect stones without disturbing nature, and I am attracted to these ordinary things because they have something more sensual than extraordinary or precious gemstones," she says.
