The World 100 Classic Works Bilingual Interpretation Network Competition ended with the participation of more than 10,000 college students

On the eve of the "May Fourth" Youth Day, the "First World 100 Classic Works Bilingual Interpretation Network Competition" attended by more than 14,530 students from 556 colleges and universities across the country came to an end. A total of 300 outstanding works were selected in the competition, which strive to "discover the Chinese spirit with the eyes and feel the pulse of the times with the heart", and use classic film and television works to dialogue with the world, encouraging college students to tell Chinese stories and spread Chinese voices on the international stage.

The competition requires participating college students to select a work from the designated 100 world classic film and television works for bilingual interpretation of Chinese and foreign languages, and create a 3-6 minute short video of the interpretation content. At the same time, entries are required to be released on well-known new media platforms at home and abroad, and the number of accumulated likes reaches the specified number before they can be displayed on the multilingual platform "Global Speak" and enter the rematch.

Judging from the 451 works that entered the rematch, the theme of these works is upward, the selected Chinese and foreign cultural contrast elements are extensive, and the analysis of facts and personal insights is profound and professional. For example, the deconstructed "The Last Emperor" submitted by nankai university contestants cuts from the details of the interaction between Westerners and Chinese in the film, combined with the two cultural performances presented by China at the two Olympic Games, and puts forward the proposition of "cultural symbols that the new era calls for keeping pace with the times". This work has great inspiration on how to tell Chinese stories well, spread Chinese voices, and enhance the affinity and effectiveness of international communication.

After the selection of experts, the first prize of this competition was won by the team of He Lei, Lin Zhichen and Liu Yuxin of Zhejiang University of Technology, and the title of the work was "Interpretation and Appreciation of Chinese Elements and the Background of the Times".

The relevant person in charge of the competition said that the 100 world classic film and television works are undoubtedly a feast of ideas for all mankind. Choose a small incision of these classics, use the form of short videos, see the big in the small, tell the story while excavating the thinking and spirit of the times, and use bilingualism to tell across time, space and borders, which is the original intention of the establishment of the "World 100 Classic Works Bilingual Interpretation Network Competition". The setting of the competition and integration of Chinese and Western cultures can effectively reduce the strangeness and distance of foreign audiences, and can effectively improve the acceptance rate, favorability and credibility of the works. This "micro theme" of the "micro era" is conducive to each and every one of our ordinary citizens to assume the responsibility of disseminating the Chinese voice, and has become a good practice for the global expression of the Chinese voice.

It is reported that the "World 100 Classic Works Bilingual Interpretation Network Competition" is jointly sponsored by the mainland's leading translation service company Transsion Network Technology Co., Ltd., the "English World" magazine managed by the Commercial Press and the UNESCO partner "Global Speaks", with the World Translation Education Alliance as the academic support unit.
