A friend who works in Townsville told me there was nothing fun in the city, so I set my sights on the outlying island, Magnetic Island.
Magnetic Island is the largest koala settlement in northern Australia. Palm-fringed beaches, huge granite boulders and, of course, divers, beautiful coral reefs.
You can take a car to the island or rent a car on the island, it is very difficult not to get around the island! Because although there are buses, the interval is relatively long. We were a group of three, and it was a good deal to rent a car on the island, so we parked directly at the dock in Townsville.
Horseshoe Bay: A place to dive. There is a main street here, there is a rental snorkeling gear, 30 knives / person / day; it is also very good to watch the sunset here
Rock Kangaroos: Rocky Bay, where wallabies jump between rocks, are so cute that if you have food, you can trick them into taking photos with you.
The Forts Walk: If you're looking for koalas on the island, be sure to come to this trail. The round trip takes less than 2 hours, and the climb to the top of the mountain also overlooks the entire Magnetic Island. Remember to bring enough water
Food: Scallywags is a great brunch shop, the pirate ship's décor, be sure to try their home coffee and burgers.
Ferry tickets: adult round-trip 32 knives / person, sealink official website booking is cheaper (on-site booking is 34 knives / person), pier parking overnight 14 knives.
Car rental: There are many car rental companies in the pier, and the prices are similar, we chose Isle Hire Car Rentals because we wanted to rent a pull-up convertible.
As there was no advance booking, we were left with not much choice, and in the end we rented a Mini cooper with 149 knives a day including insurance.
Accommodation: Amaroo on Mandalay
The hotel is within walking distance of the sea, about 20 minutes, 3 minutes by car
Off-season staggered peak travel, a double room only 120 knives, half price to enjoy a double experience ~
If you don't want to stay one night, you must take the earliest boat, otherwise there is not enough time.
