The painter's own account
I became a professional artist in 2015. I'm always looking for ways to improve and advance my painting skills and techniques, and every year there seems to be something new to learn. In 2016, I got a book from Carol Marine called The Daily Painting, which took me on a new journey. I had the idea of painting outdoors – painting outdoors. My goal is to paint about 3 pictures outdoors a week. The idea of drawing something new every day captured my imagination and I realized that the alla prima style (one try) was what I wanted to do. Committed to creating small paintings on a regular basis over the course of a year, working on a range of themes from life rather than from photographs, and found that my skills were improved and my confidence was enhanced. I documented the process in my blog and still maintain that discipline.
The quest to develop my painting skills has constantly led me in different directions, finding new tools to help me, meeting new painters to inspire me, and working with other artists who give me encouragement and advice.
My favorite time is early morning and sunset, when the light is at its best. I painted as many other regions as I could, such as France, Venice and the south coast of England. I recently started painting large works in the studio, especially in my outdoor research.
