Previously, various bloggers personally tested bringing cigarettes into Singapore, although they could bring cigarettes into the country, they must be truthfully declared and have to pay expensive fees. For a cigarette of 200 cigarettes, the basic tax will cost S$170!

Others bring only 19 opened cigarettes to Singapore, and if you're lucky, you can enter the country duty-free...

However, recently some netizens have personally tested Singapore, which has just fully opened its entry!

The answer is --

Don't say 19, not even 1 left, and now even if you have to pay taxes, you can't do it.

In order to verify, a netizen deliberately brought 1 pack of cigarettes from Malaysia into Singapore, and when he obediently went to pay taxes after entering the country, he did not expect that the response of the airport personnel was -

Now there are new rules, you can't pay taxes, and cigarettes have to be destroyed.

Rationale: From 1 July 2020, all tobacco products in Singapore must use standardized packaging and enlarged graphic health warnings.

Is this a divine horse god operation?

The simple understanding is that cigarettes brought into Singapore not only have a limit on the number of cigarettes, but most importantly, the packaging also needs to be compliant!

As long as the packaging shell is not scary enough to meet Singapore's requirements for cigarette packaging, the airport personnel will directly throw it into the machine and destroy it.

I don't even have the qualifications to pay taxes!

Uniform packaging includes enlarging the health warning image on cigarette packs, from half of the original packaging to three-quarters of the area.

Cigarette cases must also not be marked with trademarks, and the fonts and colors of all brands and trade names, as well as the location of printing, must also be uniform.

The surface of cigarette packs is all earthy brown, or mud brown green, which was voted the "ugliest color" in the world.

Cigarette cases must be opaque and dull, and even the glue used must be transparent and odorless.

Following the passage of amendments to the Tobacco (Advertising and Sales Control) Act in March 2019, the Ministry of Health of Singapore introduced subsidiary legislation to implement SP measures for all tobacco products in Singapore.

The Tobacco (Advertising and Sales Control) (Appearance, Packaging and Labelling) Regulations 2019 (the "SP Regulations") were published on 1 July 2019 and will come into force on 1 July 2020.

It is also this period of time during the pandemic, and the number of entry and exits is very small! Not to mention that someone was going to bring in a cigarette.

With effect from 1 July 2020, all tobacco products imported, distributed, sold or sold in Singapore must comply with sp regulations.

Non-compliance with SP regulations is an offence punishable by a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment for up to 6 months, or both.

In addition, even Singaporean cigarettes can't work, which means "if you go out, you can't come in".

Those on record will face heavier penalties.
