The special exhibition "Timeless Mucha-The Magic of Line", jointly curated by Guardian Art Center and the Mucha Foundation, will officially open to the public on June 24, 2022.
Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939)
Born in Moravia, Czech Republic, Alphonse Mucha went to France to study in his early years and became famous in Paris, especially in poster design, where he opened up a whole new field of vision with his unique language of artistic expression. This art form of Mucha was hailed as the "Mucha style" in Paris, becoming a model for the "Art Nouveau" at the turn of the century, and after a wide spread, it swept the world. His works not only inspired his contemporaries, but also had a profound impact on later generations of art design and comics.
Timeless Mucha-The Magic of Line is a colorful and exciting exhibition. This exhibition will re-examine the paintings of Alphonse Mucha and focus on Mucha's influence on Eastern and Western art and design, as well as illustration and comics, in the 1960s and 1970s. Presented in five exhibition areas, the exhibition explores how these two influences arose and developed, culminating in a popular global "Mucha style". The exhibition begins with Mucha and the oriental patterns that influence his creative style, all the way to the Eastern and Western comic works influenced by Mucha, transcending the life cycle of artists and crossing regional boundaries. This is a spiritual journey that spans east and west, allowing us to travel through the brilliant time and space where cultures collide and merge, and to feel a glittering art world.
It mainly displays the books, works of art and crafts that Mucha himself treasures, and explores the important elements that influence the "Mucha style".
