The peak is no longer on the road again - the roller skating road of veteran Wu Yue

Shijiazhuang, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Due to the requirements of local epidemic prevention and control, Wu Yue, a roller skating coach in Luanzhou City, Hebei Province, has been staying at home for more than a week, but his daily work has not fallen behind - he will look through the home training videos handed in by the trainees one by one, and guide them online one by one.

Whether the children on the other end of the mobile phone screen are training in quality and quantity is reassuring to him. To realize his Asian Games dream, he wants to participate in the Chinese team roller skating project selection competition held in May, and his own training plan does not dare to delay for a moment.

Wu Yue, 31, a former roller skater from Hebei Province, has participated in and won the International Roller Skating Open Championships several times, and is still the record holder in the Hebei Provincial Freestyle Skating Speed Pile Event. Wu Yue has been exposed to roller skating since the third grade of primary school, and after entering the Hebei Institute of Physical Education for college, he really embarked on a professional path.

After retiring from the provincial team in 2016, Wu Yue decided to return to his hometown and work as a physical education teacher at Luanzhou Haiyang School.

For this matter, there are still some discussions among relatives and friends today: with the aura of multiple champions, he can go to big cities and big platforms to find better jobs and earn higher salaries, but he returned to small counties as teachers. "Everyone's judging standards are different, the pursuit of goals is different, I prefer the life of a small place, and I hope to tap and cultivate potential children in my hometown." Wu Yue said.

Roller skating is a healthy aerobic exercise, which is of great help to improve people's balance and coordination ability, because in recent years, the development of ice and snow sports has been hot, and roller skating has also received more attention. Wu Yue said: "In the past, it was mainly teenagers who learned roller skating, but now the age group is wider and the number of participants is more, which is a good thing. ”

In order to focus more energy on professional roller skating training, in 2019, Wu Yue took out almost all his savings and set up a training institution called "Little Crooked Roller Skating Center" in the local area.

As a national roller skating senior coach and a national first-level referee, Wu Yue adheres to professional and differential teaching, the student team is maintained at about 50 people all year round, 4 professional coaches teach for students of different ages, the indoor training ground is about 470 square meters, open 6 days a week.

"Some people participate in training to lay the foundation for going professional, and some people participate in training to enhance their physique, so the requirements for them are different." The same thing is, they all love roller skating, so I'll pass on my love of the sport to them. Wu Yue said.

In the roller skating class, Wu Yue wade out of a road, at the competitive level, he has also gained something in recent years. In 2021, Wu Yue was called to participate in the 14th National Games as the head coach of the Hebei roller skating team, and the team finally won the fifth place in the speed skating women's 10,000 meters and the seventh and eighth places in the speed pile men's group.

"There is a distance from the target, and the players still have a lot of potential to tap." Wu Yue said, "Watching young athletes sweat on the field, I really envy it and want to compete as athletes." ”

The heartbeat at the Western Security Games made Wu Yue determined to participate in the national team selection. However, due to his age, lack of physical fitness and long-term sports injuries, this "veteran" expedition surprised people in the roller skating circle.

"The ultimate reason I decided to compete was because of a sense of guilt for my grandfather. When the old man was alive, he supported me to play roller skating, and I did not win an award at that time. Wu Yue said, "The first pair of roller skates was bought for me by my grandfather for more than 3800 yuan, and later I had customized 'combat boots', but the most important shoes were the pair that my grandfather sent." ”

Since February this year, Wu Yue has been training like crazy "make-up lessons". Late-night training ground, from the beginning to the end, starting, running, riding, sprinting... Repeatedly, Wu Yue practiced more than 300 times a day.

Because in the Hangzhou Asian Games qualifiers, the Chinese team only has two places to play for the country in the speed pile project, so next month's national team selection Wu Yue is more stressful. "Working hard towards the best result, I am no longer at the peak, I can only challenge myself, let the children see my efforts, see the way I came." Wu Yue said.
