Michael Kenna (November 20, 1953) is one of the finest and most influential landscape photographers of our time, known for his black-and-white work, and in 1977 Kenna moved to San Francisco to begin exhibiting in local galleries, developing his signature motifs and high-contrast black-and-white aesthetics For more than three decades, Kenna has photographed around the world, and trees have been his most prized photographic subjects.
Using Hasselblad's camera, Michael Kenner's black-and-white images show "insignificant but fascinating beauty", with many tree species growing slowly but surviving for thousands of years, each with its own story; In addition, he also uses his mobile phone to photograph the beauty of traditional ink painting, which is not only vivid and vivid, but also has a long artistic conception.
He often used long exposures, and further emphasized in Darkroom that Kenner's work was both vivid and mysterious. Kenner is particularly known for his meticulous personal printing style. The exquisite handmade black-and-white prints he makes in his darkroom embody a sense of elegance, respect for history and complete originality.
During Kenner's 46-year career, his photographs have been exhibited in galleries and museum exhibitions by more than 451 people around the world and are incorporated into more than 100 permanent institutional collections. A catalogue of 75 monographs and exhibitions has been published in Kenner's work.
Today, Kenner's work is in the collection of the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. He lives and works in Seattle, Washington.
