Before officially entering the battlefield, Wei Changjin and them underwent more rigorous combat training, carrying dozens of pounds of materials every day and practicing one or two hundred kilometers.

The enemy's shells pressed up, and this time the artillery fire was more fierce than ever, and Wei Changjin, who was hiding in the cat's ear hole, only felt that the earth was shaking.

One by one, the enemy fell under the muzzle of his gun, and the attacking enemy looked at Wei Changjin, whose face was covered in blood, and his heart was also afraid, and he did not dare to rush forward again, and when the enemy retreated, Wei Changjin found that he was injured in more than one place in his left eye.
A piece of shrapnel passed through his left chest, half of the flesh of his right hip had been blown off, and he sat paralyzed in the trench, feeling only pain all over his body and heavier eyelids.
Just as he was about to go to sleep, the voice of the platoon leader came from the radio again, and the platoon leader told Wei Changjin that the reinforcements were blocked by the enemy and could only reach the "No. 6 post" after dark.
Wei Changjin picked up the news machine with difficulty, and told the platoon leader that as long as he was alive, the position would not be lost, although his left eye could not see, but he still had his right eye.
With four comrades sacrificed around him and 22 wounds of his own, Wei Changjin no longer had hope of survival at this time.

The platoon commander told Wei Changjin to report the enemy's position and that the artillery would provide artillery support at "Post 6".
Wei Changjin struggled to climb into the cat's ear hole with the news machine, and through the gap in the stone, Wei Changjin observed the enemy's position with his only remaining right eye.
After determining the enemy's position, Wei Changjin told the platoon leader the direction.
Our army's artillery fire began at more than nine o'clock in the morning, and every shell landed on the enemy's heart as if it were turning on a track, and as we watched a large number of enemies being blown up into the sky, Wei Changjin's spirit became more concentrated.

The platoon leader at the other end of the intercom was silent, he was reluctant to give this order, it was to personally push his soldiers to death, but there was often no choice on the battlefield.
Once the enemy took the "No. 6 post", more soldiers would die, and the director of the regimental political office on the side grabbed the radio in the hands of the platoon leader.

When Zhang Yuanxiang and Li Shushui were preparing to lift Wei Changjin, Wei Changjin waved his hand and told them that Miao Tingrong's two eyes were blinded and the injury was more serious than his own, so let them save Miao Tingrong first.
In fact, the situation of both of them at that time was not optimistic, and Wei Changjin's delay of one more second would be one step closer to death.
The two men who could not resist Wei Changjin had to lift Miao Tingrong first, and when the three of them had descended the position, Wei Changjin waited for the other three comrades-in-arms who came to support.
The comrades-in-arms quickly carried Wei Changjin off the position, and Wei Changjin, who had lost too much blood, was unconscious on the road, and by the time he woke up again, it was already seven days later.
The field hospital on the front line helped Wei Changjin treat his wounds, but his injuries were too serious and he had to be transferred to the rear hospital.
In the hospital room, the doctor asked Wei Changjin if his left eye could see, and Wei Changjin was worried that if he said he couldn't see it, the doctor would give up treatment, so he told the only lie in his military career, saying that his left eye could still be seen.
Under the doctor's questioning, Wei Changjin sadly confided the truth, and his left eye was completely invisible. The doctor regrettably told him that his left eye could only be removed, and Wei Changjin was stunned for a moment, and then nodded his head with difficulty.
After more than a dozen surgeries, Wei Changjin's 22 injuries were finally stabilized, and after his left eye was removed, the doctor installed a prosthetic eye for him.
The red spirit never falls, and the "No. 6 post" exists
Wei Changjin recalled that time, when he was on the "No. 6 post", he thought that he could not survive anymore, so he would let his comrades save Miao Tingrong first, and as a result, the party gave him a second life.
The first time was when he was born, his mother had difficulty giving birth, and with the help of the county party committee, he was urgently transferred to the hospital, and Wei Changjin was able to be born smoothly, which was another major reason why Wei Changjin joined the army in the first place.
After his condition improved, Wei Changjin formally submitted an application to the organization to join the party, and soon became an honorable member of the Chinese Communist Party.
When he was almost recovering from his wounds, Wei Changjin asked his superiors to remain in the army, no matter what he did, and the organization agreed to his request.
In 1986, Wei Changjin was awarded the honorary title of "Combat Hero" by the Central Military Commission, and attended the All-Army Heroic Model Representative Conference the following year.
His heroic deeds on the "No. 6 Post" were also compiled into a comic strip called "Wang Cheng-style Hero Wei Changjin".
In mid-September 2008, Wei Changjin participated in the "Double Heart" national defense education activity jointly organized by Shandong University and The Jinan Garrison District, and he shared the battle story with the young students.
Soon after, he set up a "revolutionary tradition propaganda group" to let more people get the influence of patriotic education, and in one year, more than 20,000 people were educated.
