5 SOLIDS 的 JL HOUSE

Casa JL by 5 Sólidos is located on the outskirts of Medellin, Colombia, and is designed as a private sanctuary in harmony with its surroundings. Situated on a hill overlooking the entire city, this smallest house features an outdoor terrace with a dark swimming pool that naturally reflects the organic, colourful aerial landscape that changes during the day. "The connection between a building and its environment is the starting point for building a house," the architect explains. For this reason, the building is divided into two V-shaped masses that overlap with uneven terrain, each consisting of a top and a lower level.

The lower level encloses common spaces such as kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms and TV rooms, connected to garages, utility rooms and storage rooms through enclosed corridors. The open communal areas are designed to give a sense of ephemerality, allowing for communication between social areas while maintaining a sense of intimacy in each area. Sculptural staircases and other architectural elements can act as spoilers of open space paths, but can also serve as contemplative elements. Furniture is placed throughout the space in a meaningful way, while the sense of raw material in the environment and objects contrasts the tone interior with warmth and texture. 5 Sólidos describes this lower volume as "a space designed to destroy the sensory realm, affect emotions and establish a connection with its environment, removing any unnecessary elements that might contaminate its energy." ”

A house that connects the building and the environment

The upper space of "Casa JL" features three bedrooms overlooking three completely different landscapes. 5 Sólidos removed all unnecessary elements from the bedroom and suggested them as contemplative areas for each scene. The contrast between wood and concrete becomes the subject of connection between them. 'Pretty?' Is it useful for the space it is used to? Does it affect the way people interact with space? Does it establish a sensory relationship with them? These are the questions that have been asked and sought," columbia architects noted.

The residence's terrace has an outdoor living space embedded in the ground floor, located next to the dining and BBQ area. The dark pool becomes a natural mirror that changes throughout the day, creating reflections that contrast the linear building structure with organic, colorful aerial views.
