In December 2013, the 3,000-square-meter Monumental Hall for the Unknown Heroes was officially inaugurated in Beijing's Xishan National Forest Park to commemorate the unsung heroes who died on the hidden front in Taiwan.
After the completion of the square, many tourists came to mourn for a while, and a dusty history was immediately revealed in front of the world.
On the eve of the founding of New China, in order to realize national reunification, the CPC Central Committee made a decision and deployment on the liberation of Taiwan, and subsequently, our party secretly sent more than 1,500 party members and progressives to Taiwan.

However, due to the betrayal of traitors and the wanton search and arrest of the enemy, more than 1,100 people were eventually openly killed by the Kuomintang authorities, and although the remaining 400 people escaped by chance, their lives were also very difficult, and even fewer returned to the mainland.
Xie Hanguang, who is going to talk about in this article, is one of these surviving heroes, who went to Taiwan on the ninth day of his new marriage to returned to the mainland in the year of ancient rarity, and has been lurking for 42 years, and is by far the longest recorded underground party member of our party who insists on persisting in the struggle in Taiwan.
Heroes should not be forgotten, and then let us start from Xie Hanguang's revolutionary deeds and relive that little-known history.

Soon after the new marriage, he entered Taiwan and lurked
Xie Hanguang, whose family name was Bingkun, was born in September 1917 in a peasant family in Caizhi Village, Puzhai Town, Fengshun County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, with 11 brothers and sisters, and he ranked second.
The Xie family is a big family in the local area, and Xie Hanguang grew up under the influence of family education from an early age, so he cultivated the idea of patriotism and love for the family earlier than his peers.
When Xie Hanguang was born, it was in the midst of warlord chaos, social turmoil, as he grew older, he also wanted to serve the country when he grew up, because of his talent and outstanding achievements, at the age of 23, he was admitted to the forestry major of the Agricultural College of "National Guangxi University".
At that time, many cities on the eastern coast fell into the hands of the Japanese, for the education of the next generation, a large number of professors moved their families to the west, Guangxi is one of the destinations, in this school, including Zhu Kezhen, Li Siguang, Chen Wangdao, Chen Yinke and a number of famous scholars and professors from the mainland gathered.
Under their teaching, Xie Hanguang's knowledge level improved rapidly, but at this time, he had no intention of studying, and seeing that the land was lost, he also wanted to throw himself into the army and join the army to resist Japan.
It was during this period that Xie Hanguang became close friends with Liang Zhengqing, Chen Zhonghao, Zhang Bozhe, and other enthusiastic young people who were also full of the heart of serving the country, and then, under the influence of our Party teachers, they began to organize anti-Japanese activities in schools and embarked on the road of revolution.

In July 1942, Xie Hanguang successfully graduated from school and went to the "Qiangui Railway Liuzhou Farm" in Guilin, Guangxi Province, with his classmates, because of his outstanding ability, he became the director of the farm, where he met a group of party members and became a very progressive person outside the party on the farm.
Later, Guilin was also occupied by the Japanese, Xie Hanguang followed the refugees to Sichuan, along the way, in the face of the displaced people, Xie Hanguang was very sad in his heart, he has been looking for opportunities to serve the country, and soon waited.
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Taiwan returned to the embrace of the motherland, when a teacher at Guangxi University came to Taiwan at the invitation of a friend to serve as the director of the Provincial Forestry Experimental Institute, and the work here corresponded to Xie Hanguang's profession.
Therefore, the professor remembered this student, so he wrote a letter asking Xie Hanguang to go to Taiwan to work together, and Xie Hanguang gladly agreed, hurriedly bought a ticket to Hong Kong, and prepared to transfer from Hong Kong to Taiwan.

During his stay in Hong Kong, Xie Hanguang met a girl with similar personalities and three views, and the two saw each other as they were, and they immediately had feelings for each other, and soon became married.
Xie Hanguang originally wanted to take his wife to Taiwan to work, but on the ninth day after the new marriage, he gave up the idea.
It turned out that in early 1946, while waiting for the ship in Hong Kong, he met a good friend from college, at that time, the friend had already joined our party, and with his help, Xie Hanguang met Su Hui, who was then the head of the South China Branch of the Communist Party of China in Hong Kong.
Su Hui introduced our party's revolutionary purpose and ideals to Xie Hanguang, and in three words and two words, Xie Hanguang suddenly became enlightened, and he finally realized what the revolutionary direction he had been looking for for many years was, and he decided to join our party and fight side by side with his comrades.

In the following days, Xie Hanguang often communicated with our party personnel, and his ideological consciousness continued to increase, and finally, on the 9th day after the new marriage, Su Hui found him and arranged a task for him.
Su Hui said to him seriously: "I hope that after you arrive in Taiwan, you can do some work for the party, of course, this matter will be dangerous, and I respect your ideas." ”
Xie Hanguang agreed without even thinking about it, because he saw the hope of the country in our party's faith.
Su Hui was very happy to see his reaction, and continued: "Since this is the case, you have an alumnus who is also coming to Taiwan soon, and I hope that you will arrange a position for him to facilitate his work. ”
Xie Hanguang nodded, he did not ask for the name of the person who came, because in previous contacts with the members of our party, he knew that this was out of the need for secrecy.

Although Xie Hanguang was ready to lurk in Taiwan, when he returned home, he still seemed worried, because he knew the danger of this task, so he could not take his wife with him, but they had only been married for nine days, and Xie Hanguang did not know how to say it for a while.
This afternoon, looking at Xie Hanguang's absent-minded appearance, his wife patiently asked, "If there is something to say, let's find a way together." Xie Hanguang hesitated to say that he would not take her with him, but for confidentiality, the specific reasons were not informed.
I thought my wife would complain and ask questions, who knows, she tightly held Xie Hanguang's hands and said seriously: "You go, a person outside to take care of yourself, I will wait for you to come back." ”
Xie Hanguang did not expect his wife to be so sensible, only to see that he hugged his wife tightly and silently shed tears, but what he did not know was that his wife also shed tears, because at this time his wife was pregnant, but for the sake of her husband's career, she hid this news in her heart.

In this way, Xie Hanguang went to Taiwan alone by sea ship, looking at his wife who came to the dock to bid farewell, his heart was full of reluctance, perhaps, neither of them expected that this difference was 42 years...
42 years of perseverance
After arriving in Taiwan, the teacher immediately arranged Xie Hanguang to work in the "Taiwan Provincial Forestry Laboratory", usually responsible for the research of some scientific research projects, Xie Hanguang is talented after all, and soon became familiar with the environment here.
In his free time, Xie Hanguang often kept in touch with Su Hui, actively completing the tasks assigned by the organization, of course, he also missed his wife, but out of the need for confidentiality, he did not write to his wife to explain his situation.
More than a month later, Xie Hanguang's teacher went elsewhere to seek another high, and before leaving, the teacher recommended Xie Hanguang to be the director of the laboratory, so that Xie Hanguang's activities became more free.
At this moment, the old classmate who also came to Taiwan to lurk found him, and Xie Hanguang was very excited after seeing the appearance of the person who came, because this person was Zhang Bozhe mentioned above, and the two were both classmates and fellow villagers, and the relationship was very good.

At this time, Zhang Bozhe was already a member of our party, and in order to facilitate the work, Xie Hanguang let him become a section member in the subordinate Lotus Pond Branch, which was hidden and had less work, which was convenient for carrying out tasks.
In this way, the two of them, like other comrades of our Party who had lurked in Taiwan, began a long-term incubation on this hidden front, during which time they provided our Party with a lot of valuable information, and in 1947, Xie Hanguang passed the test under the introduction of Zhang Bozhe and officially became a Communist Party member.
In the first few years of Taiwan's lurking, because Chiang Kai-shek had always focused on the mainland, the actions of the Kuomintang reactionaries in Taiwan were not very intensive, and Xie Hanguang repeatedly walked on the tip of the knife, relying on wisdom and prudence to remain unharmed.

However, after Chiang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan, the Kuomintang agents entrenched in Taiwan immediately intensified their efforts to search for our party's agents, and on January 29, 1950, Cai Xiaoqian, the head of our party's underground party in Taiwan, was arrested by the Kuomintang authorities for betrayal by traitors.
Cai Xiaoqian's arrest was fatal, and soon many underground organizations of our party were seized by the spies, a large number of party members and comrades were arrested and killed by the enemy, Zhang Bozhe was also arrested and sacrificed at this time, and the situation of struggle on the hidden front was extremely grim.
One afternoon, an underground party member who had escaped found Xie Hanguang, who was in the test house, because they had been in a single line of contact before, and the two met in an emergency this time, but Xie Hanguang did not know the name of the person who came.
The party member handed Xie Hanguang a secret letter and 30 yuan of latent funds, and said eagerly: "Go quickly, the enemy has found this place, he will come over immediately, leave here, and go elsewhere!" ”

Before Xie Hanguang could inquire about the specific situation, the party member turned and left, and Xie Hanguang knew that it was not too late, so he immediately ran out and went to the Zhongpu branch in Chiayi County to hide.
After a few days here, Xie Hanguang smelled the danger, because the contact with his superiors was broken, he decided to go to the Taichung livestock farm to find another classmate, Liang Zhengqing, who was also a lurker of our party, but when he got there, he found that he had also been arrested by the enemy.
At this time, Xie Hanguang suddenly lost his goal, lost contact with everyone, the world is so big, he does not know where to go, but the only thing he is clear is that he cannot surrender when he dies, and for the sake of faith, he must live.
In this way, Xie Hanguang began to walk towards the Taitung Forest Farm according to the instructions on the secret letter, although he realized that with Liang Zhengqing's arrest, the enemy may have found it.
Fortunately, on the way to escape, Xie Hanguang met a local farmer named Yang Xibo, who kindly took Xie Hanguang in, and in order to avoid being pursued, he lied to Yang Xibo that he was a kuomintang deserter.
After hiding in the Yang family for a few days, Xie Hanguang was afraid that the agents would come to check the household registration, so after thanking Yang Xibo, he ran into the deep mountains 20 miles away alone, because the food on his body had been eaten, and he had to fill his hunger with weeds.
Fortunately, Xie Hanguang found a village in the deep mountains, and he felt that the location was remote and suitable for continuing to lurk, so he ran to the village.
At first, the village chief refused to allow outsiders to stay, Xie Hanguang gave him the two gold rings he carried, so he found a family in the village to live, in order to hide his identity, he used the identity of Ye Yikui, who had been missing in the village for a year, with the help of the village chief, to apply for an IDENTITY card and household registration information.
In this way, Xie Hanguang became Ye Yikui, settled in the village, on weekdays, he often helped the villagers to work, and also used the agricultural knowledge he learned to lead everyone to cultivate the land scientifically, gradually, he completely integrated into the villagers, and everyone took good care of him.
Later, seeing that Xie Hanguang was still single, several senior ladies in the village wanted to help him introduce an object, but after Xie Hanguang heard about it, he immediately refused, because he had been thinking about his wife who was married.
Time passed 42 years, Xie Hanguang also changed from a spirited youth to an old man with gray hair, but he never thought of surrendering himself to the Kuomintang authorities, even if he lived a hard life of escape, he was willing to eat, a person has faith, life has always been bright.
In 1987, with the deepening of cross-strait communication, the Taiwan side relaxed the restrictions on Taiwan residents visiting relatives on the mainland, Xie Hanguang was given the opportunity to go home, and the night he learned the news, he burst into tears...
The hero returns, and the children and grandchildren are full
On December 8, 1988, after obtaining permission to visit relatives, 71-year-old Xie Hanguang walked out of the mountains with the IDENTIT CARD of "Ye Yikui" and flew back to his hometown of Caizhi Village in Anshun County via Hong Kong.
When he was about to leave, the villagers rushed to the village entrance to bid him farewell, although everyone did not know Xie Hanguang's true identity, but over the years, he made contributions to everyone, everyone remembered.
So why didn't Xie Hanguang go home directly, but first to Hong Kong? It turned out that Xie Hanguang had always remembered his wife, and he wanted to go to Hong Kong to see if her wife was still there.
Fortunately, Xie Hanguang learned from his fellow villagers in Hong Kong that since he went to Taiwan, his wife has always been waiting for him to return, during which time, some people have pursued, but they have all been rejected by her, and later, seeing that he has not returned, his wife has returned to Xie Hanguang's hometown to serve his parents on his behalf.
Not only that, but his wife also bore him a son and a daughter, and now he has two grandchildren and a granddaughter, which can be described as a full house of children and grandchildren.
When Xie Hanguang heard these news, he couldn't help but burst into tears, and he felt more and more that he owed his wife too much and too much.
Finally, after returning home, Xie Hanguang and his wife met, the two hugged each other again after 42 years, crying with joy, at this moment, both husband and wife wanted to say something, but no one opened their mouths, perhaps, the years are the best proof.
At the beginning of his return to his hometown, due to his long age, unclear history, and unclear identity, the local government only regarded Xie Hanguang as an ordinary "Taiwan compatriot in difficulty" and paid him a living allowance of 20 yuan per month.
However, for Xie Hanguang, money is nothing, and his only wish is to restore his party membership organizationally, because he always keeps in mind the oath he took when he joined the party.
Soon after arriving home, Xie Hanguang wrote an application report to the Central Organization Department, and at the same time, he looked around for comrades who had survived at that time who could prove his identity.

Fortunately, after inquiring, Xie Hanguang found Chen Zhonghao, a comrade-in-arms who was teaching at Keelung Middle School in Taiwan, and the two had contact when they were in Taiwan, so he found Chen Zhonghao with the support of his daughter.
In the end, with Chen Zhonghao's proof, the staff of the Central Organization Department investigated Xie Hanguang's relevant information in detail, confirming his heroic deeds as a party member who participated in a latent mission in Taiwan.
On May 23, 1995, the Organization Department of the Fengshun County CPC Committee handed over a document to the elderly Xie Hanguang, who shed tears after reading it, and the family members on the side also admired the old man's persistence for many years.

According to circular No. 16 (1995) of the Guangdong Group of the Provincial CPC Committee and Circular No. 11 of meishi Ganhanzi (1995), the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee decided that Comrade Xie Hanguang, who returned to Taiwan and settled in Fengshun in 1988, would have been working during the revolutionary work from the beginning of 1947 and would be dismissed as a general cadre (section member) from April 5, 1995.
The monthly standard salary is 123 yuan for the sixth grade of the clerk, 164 yuan for the ninth grade of the clerk, 90 yuan for the basic salary, and 49 yuan for the length of service allowance, for a total of 426 yuan. After the leave of absence, the leave fee shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations.
After the identity was proved, the elderly Xie Hanguang thought of using the last time to compensate his family, he spent 31,000 yuan to buy a two-story house in the county, moved his family's hukou to the city, and the family lived happily together.
In 1996, the elderly Xie Hanguang died at home with a smile at the age of 79.
