Huang Shuqin was born in Tianjin on September 9, 1939, and went to Shanghai with her parents the following year. In 1959, he was admitted to the directing department of the Beijing Film Academy, and in 1964, he entered the Shanghai Film Studio. She followed Xie Jin and served as "Ah! "Cradle" and "Legend of Tianyun Mountain" Assistant Director, began to make independent films in 1981, has directed "Contemporary People", "Long Live Youth", "Childhood Friends", "Supranational Action", "Man • Ghost Love", "Painting Soul", "I Also Have a Father", "Hi, Frank" and other 8 films, "Siege of the City", "Debt", "Promise", "Shanghai Vicissitudes", "Laughing Causes" and other TV series; as well as TV movies "Husband" and "Red Pink", Kunqu Opera "Pipa Line", drama "Golden Lock".
As the fourth generation of accomplished directors in China, the identity of women has given Huang Shuqin a unique perspective of observation, and the representative work "Man, Ghost, Love" has been hailed as "China's first female film". Huang Shuqin was a director of the China Filmmakers Association and vice chairman of the Shanghai Filmmakers Association. On March 27, 2016, he won the Outstanding Contribution Award issued by the China Film Directors Association.
Early life: from "second generation of art" to emerging directors
On September 9, 1939, as the eldest daughter of the theater artists Huang Zuolin (Huang Zuolin) and Jin Yunzhi (Danny), Huang Shuqin was born in the old residence of her grandparents in Tianjin, and took the name "Shuqin" - "Shu" means that her mother was pregnant in Sichuan, and "Qin" took her grandmother's name as a memorial.
In 1947, 8-year-old Huang Shuqin made a cameo appearance as a "toothless dragon" girl with a northern accent who could play the piano in the first film of the Wenhua Film Company directed by Sang Arc. After the film was released, he followed Liu Qiong and other big stars to the street to do publicity and was watched.
At the age of 18, Huang Shuqin, who loved art, graduated from high school and applied for the film academy, but unfortunately the Beijing Film Academy did not enroll students that year. In order to complete her film dream, she went to the countryside for two years, and in 1959, she was admitted to the directing department of the Beijing Film Academy as she wished. After graduating from university for four years, she returned to Shanghai and successively served as a reporter, assistant director and director of Shanghai Film Studio.
In 1979, Huang Shuqin served as an assistant director in Xie Jin's film "Ah, Cradle", responsible for managing the donkeys in the play. In 1980, in the second film "The Legend of Tianyun Mountain", which gave Xie Jin as an assistant director, she began to write and sort out the director's script, which benefited a lot. After the film was filmed, Xie Jin announced that "Huang Shuqin graduated" and could make independent films.

In 1981, Huang Shuqin made her film debut,"Contemporary People," a film about the subject matter of contemporary life as she understood it. In 1983, she independently directed the youth film "Long Live Youth", and the following year won the Outstanding Film Memorial Award at the 8th Tashkent International Film Festival. In 1984, Huang Shuqin made another film about children, and "Childhood Friend" won the 1984 Outstanding Film Award of the Ministry of Culture and the first Chinese Children's and Teenagers Film Child Cow Award the following year.

In 1987, Huang Shuqin co-wrote and directed China's first and so far best feminist film, Man Ghost Love, with Li Ziyu and Song Rixun. In 1990, Qian Zhongshu and Yang Dai promised to grant Huang Shuqin the right to adapt the TV series of the novel "Siege of the City", a "virtuous niece". After 100 days of recuperation from her fractures, Huang Shuqin was pushed on the set in a wheelchair by her husband Zheng Changfu and directed the 10-episode TV series "Siege of the City" by filming.
To say that filming "Siege of the City", Huang Shuqin once felt that she was "the most suitable". Because his father Huang Zuolin and his mother graduated from Cambridge, England, after graduating with a master's degree, they transferred to France by boat back to Tianjin, and after their grandfather's funeral, they went to Sichuan to teach, all the way back to Shanghai...
