The Balcony Flowers: Lady of Shalott

author:Know the destiny and enjoy life

Lady of Shalott, a small vine this season, bred by David Austin, was launched in 2009 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lord Alfred Tennyson's birth, named after Charlotte, the heroine of Sir Tennison's famous poem The Lady of Shalott.

The buds are orange-red, with salmon pink outer petals and orange inner layers, contrasting with the golden yellow on the back of the petals. The open flowers are chalice-shaped, with orange petals loosely arranged in them. Large flower, flower diameter of about 10cm, number of petals 60. There is a moderately warm tea aroma with a light apple and clove blend. Repeated flowering, almost all year round can continue to flower.

The plant is robust and can reach an adult height of up to 2.5 m when planted as a vine. When used as a shrub, adult plants can reach a height of 150 cm and an amplitude of 120 cm. The leaves are medium green, and the new leaves are slightly bronzed. Extremely resistant to disease. Suitable for making flower fences, flower posts or flower stands.

The planting area is wide (4-11 areas), adapted to various soil conditions, can be planted in all directions of east, west, south and north, full sunshine, semi-shade.

Suitable for light cutting in summer.

No wonder everyone who had raised Mrs. Charlotte was full of praise for her. She is so graceful and noble! From the buds to the blooming flowers, everything is full of grace, and there is simply no place for people to be picky.

The toothpick seedling from the end of August last year has now grown to 1.5 meters tall and has bloomed more than 20 flowers this spring, which has surprised me enough. Looking forward to the next spring, Mrs. Charlotte's flowers cover a wall.
