The 4-0 away loss to Liverpool appears to have set off a wind of change, with chief scouts Lauler and Boot both resigning. Lawler has been a scouting team at Manchester United since 2005, and Butt followed in the footsteps of former manager Louis van Gaal in 2014.

Two scouts left the club after working together for 7 years, let's take a look at the first-team players they signed while working together.
2014-15 season
Di Maria (£59.7 million), Luke Shaw (£27m), Herrera (£29m), Rojo (£16m), Blind (£13.8m), Falcao (£6m loan)
Di Maria, who has just achieved her best performance in the Champions League final, broke the Transfer Record in England and came to Manchester United from Real Madrid. Rojo and Blind have also represented Argentina and the Netherlands in the World Cup, while Herrera and Luke Shaw are good choices.
Falcao looks set to be paired up with Van Persie, and unfortunately only Shaw, Blind and Herrera prove to be smart investments, while Falcao, Di Maria and Rojo are unable to regain their form.
2015-16 season
Martial (£36m), Schneiderling (£25m), Depay (£31m), Damian (£12.7m), Schweinsteiger (£14.4m)
The arrival of Depay, Schneiderling and Schweinsteiger in Louis van Gaal's final transfer window at Old Trafford did not attract much attention, but the sudden arrival of Martial from Monaco caused shock waves throughout the Premier League.
Schweinsteiger's multiple injuries left him standing on the sidelines, while Schneiderling and Depay struggled to adapt to the pressures of the Premier League. Damian had his moments but was eventually kicked out of the club anyway.
Anthony Martial remains at the club today, however his departure seems to be only a matter of time and he was already on loan to Sevilla in January.
2016-17 season
Pogba (£89m), Mkhitaryan (£37.8m), Eric Bailey (£34m), Ibrahimovic (free)
The season bought Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Pele and Ibrahimovic for £166 million, with Jose Mourinho at the helm of Manchester United, all four players who seem to solve the problems of Louis van Gaal's two years at the helm of Manchester United.
The Europa League title, the League Cup winner, and the fact that Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals and 10 assists in 46 games suggest that this is the best transfer window for Lawler and Boot's scouts at the club.
Unfortunately, neither Pogba nor Mkhitaryan was able to regain their best form, and persistent injuries allowed Pele's performance to deteriorate over the next few seasons.
2017-18 season
Lukaku (£76m), Nemanja Matic (£40m), Lindelof (£31m), Sanchez (owner swap with Mkhitaryan)
Mourinho chose the pitch area he identified in the first transfer window, bringing in Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof in the summer.
When United tried to keep up with City, they beat City to sign Alexis Sanchez. Although the Red Devils finished second, Mourinho still valued the achievement very much.
In the end, Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez were both transferred to Inter Milan by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while Lindelof and Nemanja Matic were the club's main players.
2018-19 season
Fred (£53m), Dalot (£20m), Grant (£1.53m)
Mourinho's last transfer window was unusually low-key, but United still spent a lot of money because Fred was transferred from Miner Donetsk and Darot was also highly anticipated.
Fred and Dalot are the team's hopes, and the two players will likely play regularly under Tenhag unless they can fill their spots in the summer.
2019-20 season
Maguire (£80m), Bruno Fernandez (£47m), 10,000-bissaka (£50m), Daniel James (£16m), Ighalo (on loan)
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer smashed £80m in the head of former Leicester City defender Maguire, making him the most expensive defender in the world. Wan Bissaka's arrival from crystal palaces also proved to be a huge expense, and James's arrival from Swansea City was for the future.
However, the arrival of Bruno Fernandez proved the club's masterpiece, contributing 35 goals and 25 assists to the Red Devils. After the club's strong first two seasons, Maguire and WanBissaka had a very tough season, while James was sent to Leeds United to make a profit.
2020-21 season
Van der Beek (£35m), Traoré (£19m), Telles (£13m), Pelistry (£7.65m), Cavani (free transfer)
The arrival of former Ajax star Van de Beek initially attracted a lot of attention as he didn't seem to have a clear spot in United's squad.
However, The signing of Tres and Cavani appears to be a shrewd deal as United lack a natural No. 9 and Telles is an experienced left-back who can challenge Shaw.
Unfortunately, Traore and Pelletri have barely scored a goal for United, while Cavani and Tres are ok and are currently in United's squad. Meanwhile, as stated, van der Beek has no real place and he was loaned to Everton on loan in the most recent January transfer window.
2021-22 season
Sancho (£77m), Varane (£36m), Cristiano Ronaldo (£14m), Tom Heaton (free)
It was the transfer window of the Red Devils' dream, and their long chase for Sancho ended with his joining, with Varane bringing prestige and experience to the backline and Cristiano Ronaldo's return bringing almost unprecedented excitement to Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not go as planned and he was kicked out of United's seventh place in November. When Cristiano Ronaldo dragged United into the top four almost alone, Varane missed most of the season with injury.
Sancho's Red Devils career at Manchester United started slowly, but he seems to have found his place at Old Trafford and he is the future of Manchester United.
