The original God of War director Hard Gang Tencent.
David Jaffe, the creator of "God of War" and former production director of "God of War", said in a recent foreign media Podcast conversation that Tencent had planned to ask him to be the director of a game for $100 million, and he decisively declined the invitation at the time.
He rejected Tencent's offer to make a $100 million budget game because he had his own opinions on a few things.
In the Sacred Symbols+ podcast, the director of the original God of War talks about how he was unhappy about dealing with the company after receiving an offer from the company.
"I had a $100 million deal," he claimed, "and a Chinese company overtures me... I said 'no thanks'... Because you're Tencent, I don't want to have anything to do with you. ”
"It sucks because this is Western Tencent, a Western guy I respect called me and I don't want to humiliate him. I wish he was thick-skinned enough and he'd been an executive in the industry longer than I was, but I was like, 'Man, I don't want to do business with companies like this, xxx like this.' ’”
After the article was published, Jeffe also shared a correspondence with the aforementioned Tencent executives, in which he further explained his decision to reject the acquisition.
In addition to his views on certain things, Jeffe said he wants to continue discussing and playing the game on his YouTube channel.
Regarding Tencent, in addition to owning Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, Tencent also owns a 40% stake in Epic Games, as well as shares in Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, PUBG Studios parent company Krafton, PlatinumGames, Marvelous Inc. and Playtonic Games.
"As we get stronger and more respected, he changes his mind." A Chinese player said.
