The most expensive house in any city in China is the school district house. It shows that ordinary people and official families attach great importance to children's reading.
So, is there any trick to whether a person is successful in reading or not?
I'm going to make this so-called "trick" public today.
First of all, let's talk about myself.
I'm actually just a typical poor student.
Because when I was studying, the teacher gave lectures, and most of them didn't understand. In 1973, I graduated from junior high school and returned to the countryside to work. My actual level of education is that of a semi-illiterate person. It is equivalent to today's third-grade primary school education level.
Of course, my reading era began in 1966 with the End of the Cultural Revolution in 1973. My reading career was all during the Cultural Revolution, so I graduated from junior high school as a semi-illiterate person.
In class that year, I couldn't understand the teacher's lectures, and it certainly wouldn't be a problem with my IQ, because after all, I was now a writer (a member of the Hubei Writers Association).
I now recall that there were two reasons why I couldn't understand the teacher's lectures when I was reading.
One is that I was young, five years old and read.
The second is that I am "sensible" late.
A situation like mine should be said to be very common.
We human beings do have the distinction between "understanding" early and "understanding" late. People who understand things late when they are young can understand the ability is not good. Therefore, the teacher's lectures must be mostly incomprehensible.
We humans should say that most of our IQ is similar.
Why is there so much difference in the issue of reading? On average, only a measly two percent of people born each year in the country can be admitted to "double first-class" key universities. In layman's terms, ninety-eight percent of children must fail to read (they cannot pass the "double-first-class key universities"). Unfortunately, parents across the country do not know why their children cannot be admitted to major universities.
Because parents do not know the "know-how" of reading, spending a lot of money to buy a school district house for their children is also a wasted effort.
The reason I personally did not get good grades in my studies that year was that I was too late to "understand things". There is also a reason why they are too young. Because after I graduated from junior high school, I took out the junior high school textbook and read it again, and the knowledge points I didn't understand before were suddenly understood and understood, as if Mao Setun was enlightened.
There is also my youngest son Ku Wenfei, who failed the primary school exam, the academic performance was not good, the junior high school was not good, and even the high school was not admitted. I was paying for high school for him to read. As a result, in the second year of high school, the academic performance suddenly improved by leaps and bounds, and suddenly more than 400 people entered the top 50. Finally admitted to China University of Geosciences in Beijing. In the university, he also became friends with the "number one" of the university, President Wu Ganguo (and secretary), and often dared to go to the president's office to chat and consult on learning issues. Every year, I get a scholarship and am guaranteed to go to the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for graduate school after graduation. After graduating from graduate school, he received a full scholarship to the University of Missouri to study for a doctorate in the United States, and studied in the United States for nine years (including postdoctoral fellows).
As mentioned above, only two percent of us humans are successful in reading (the same for all countries), what kind of people are these two percent?
First, "sensible" students early.
Second, children who are willing to read do not need parental control at all.
Third, children with normal IQs.
That is to say, more than 60% of children have the ability to enter double-first-class key universities.
The "three points" written above, only two percent of us humans can meet this standard.
More than ninety-eight percent of people are bored with school and unwilling to read when they are students.
So, is there a way for ninety-eight percent of us who don't want to read to make them successful?
The answer is yes, it is completely possible to let these people who are unwilling to read and those who are "late in understanding" study and successfully enter the double first-class key universities. However, it is not enough to rely on buying a school district house.
So, what is the trick to this book success?
Let's start with the school I ran.
In 2006, I applied for a "School Running Certificate" in shiyan city education bureau and industry and commerce bureau in Hubei Province, and the name of the school was "Hubei Shiyan City Kujinhui Extraordinary Education Research Institute" and "Hubei Shiyan City Kujinhui Extraordinary Education School" (entering my school name in Baidu or "Today's Headlines" can see my school running situation in that year).
My school is for the whole country to enroll, because CCTV invited me to do a lot of programs on CCTV's first, second, fourth, tenth and other channels, and parents across the country watched the TV programs I did, and they called me to consult my children's education, and they knew that I had run a school, so they sent their children with the worst academic performance to my school. There are also some parents who buy the books I publish about educating their children and realize that I have a school, so they send their children to my school.
The minimum age of students in my school is 3 and a half years old and the oldest age is 19 years old.
My national survey found that more than ninety percent of children were reluctant to study.
I also often reminisce about my reading days and my younger son's reading, because my younger son and I did not understand the lessons, so my younger son and my junior high school did not do well in elementary and junior high school.
So, the problems I have to solve when I run a school are:
First, students must be truly willing to read and consciously and voluntarily.
Second, let students understand every point of knowledge.
Therefore, I don't need a blackboard in my school classroom, and students don't have to listen to the teacher's unified lectures. Students rely entirely on self-study. The student did not understand, so he asked the teacher. At the end of each knowledge point study, it must be tested, almost every day. And the progress of each student's learning is different. The teacher constantly asks questions to the students according to the content of the knowledge points. Students do not understand the teacher, so tell students how to learn how to understand this knowledge point.
In fact, students who are unwilling to read are all because they do not understand some knowledge points at this stage of the first grade of junior high school, and they slowly get tired of learning and give up reading.
In my school, there is no problem of not being able to understand the lessons. All knowledge points can be mastered, and the academic performance is definitely very good! Reading is not a difficult task. Surely not bored with school.
Then, it is not enough to solve the problem of learning the method of learning knowledge points. Every day, I have to educate my students so that they understand why they read.
On the subject of "why should I read", ninety-nine percent of parents and teachers are not clear to their children, and children are not willing to listen to parents and teachers. Unwilling to listen to these "big truths."
Why can I make my child obedient?
Because I am a "celebrity" in size, I have many "halos" on my head, such as education experts, writers, frequent guests of CCTV, families commended by the state (national learning families), two sons who have successfully studied and studied abroad, and so on. Students generally worship "celebrities", so when students believe what I say and I talk about the purpose and meaning of reading, they believe that I have to "brainwash" students almost every day and use the news stories that happen every day in society to tell children the meaning of reading. It is impossible to manage a year just by going through one education. "Brainwashing" is done every day. In this way, students have motivation to learn, as long as the students have a normal IQ, admission to Peking University Tsinghua is not a problem at all.
So why can students in our school go to college at the age of thirteen or fourteen?
Because I have gained experience through the practice of my two sons.
In 1995, my eldest son finished his fifth grade, and during the summer vacation, I asked him to teach himself the sixth grade course, promising him that if he finished the math course of the sixth grade in the summer, he would be rewarded with a telescope. Unexpectedly, he finished his studies in two hours, and the exam was eighty points. Later, I did a lot of experiments in the country, and most of the children were able to do this. So, both of my sons went to college at the age of 16.
Therefore, after my school has finished one year or half of primary school, I have to learn junior high school curriculum. The students in my school are generally seven years old and junior high school students.
Reader friend, the above is the reading "trick" I explored:
The first is to solve the problem that children understand the purpose of reading. Make children very willing to read.
The second is to do everything possible to let children understand all the knowledge points. That way you won't get bored with school. Reading is no longer a hassle.
The third is to cultivate children's ability to learn on their own. With this ability, out of society, being an official, doing business, and so on, will be handy, and the emotional intelligence will be high.
