In early April, at a training ground in the hinterland of northeast China, a combat shooting drill of a brigade of the 78th Group Army was fiercely launched. A certain new type of infantry fighting vehicle drove toward the firing area, and several shells roared out of the chamber, destroying the "enemy" target in one fell swoop.
"The most fundamental reason why our army has been able to overcome all kinds of difficulties and hardships and constantly move from victory to victory is to unswervingly listen to the party and follow the party." At the end of the exercise, the officers and men of the brigade combined military history with the history of the military and brigade next to the infantry fighting vehicle and launched a heated discussion on "loyally safeguarding the core and being determined to strive to strengthen the army."
Coming from the smoke of the flames, the brigade is a Red Army unit with a rich history and outstanding military achievements. Over the past 90 years, they have undergone more than 30 reorganizations and reorganizations, and still retain 3 Red Army organs, 2 Red Army battalions, and 7 Red Army companies in the reorganization system, condensing and forming a brigade spirit with the main connotation of "bravely being the vanguard, bravely winning victories, and bravely attacking tough problems". During the Long March, Wu Huanxian, political commissar of the Red 25 Army, led his troops to search for the party in thousands of miles, pinning down the enemy and vowing to die to ensure the smooth northward movement of the Party Central Committee and the Central Red Army. In the new historical period, we must unswervingly trust the core, loyal to the core, and maintain the core. The military flag will always follow the party flag. That year, they moved on orders and moved from the shores of the Bohai Sea to the hinterland of northern Xinjiang. Less than half a year after the reform and transfer of the troops, they were given a new task - to send officers and soldiers to Mali to carry out peacekeeping missions. In the peacekeeping mission area, the average temperature exceeds 40 °C, and infectious diseases such as malaria and yellow fever are rampant. Will officers and men be afraid of difficulties? Happily, when the news of the mission came out, nearly a thousand "letters of request for war" full of sincerity quickly filled the desks of party committees at all levels.
The loyal character of listening to the party with one heart and following the party with an iron heart comes from the usual ear and education. In recent years, the brigade has continuously deepened the theme education, vigorously promoted the project of "passing on the red gene from generation to generation", organized grass-roots officers and soldiers to search for old heroes of the brigade to participate in the war, excavated and collected red historical materials, guided and helped the grass-roots level to repair the honor room, write the history of the battalion company, and carry out the red story speech contest. Through the leadership of the red tradition, the faith and confidence of officers and men in loyally safeguarding the core and committing themselves to striving to strengthen the army have become firmer.
Walking into the brigade history museum, the exhibition hall quietly displays honorary battle flags such as "The Third Battalion of Hundred Battles and Hundred Victories". "These honorary battle flags are the historical testimony of the martyrs who fought in blood and bravely defeated the enemy." Sergeant Li Xiangqian of the Third Battalion introduced that at the military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, he held high the battle flag of honor and accepted the review of the party and the people. Nowadays, Li Xiangqian has become the "red traditional explainer" in the brigade, and whenever a new soldier enters the camp, he always uses the most sincere emotions to preach the red story in the history of the military and the brigade, and guides the new comrades to consciously look at the core and follow the core.
Red history is not only a textbook for forging loyalty, but also a charge for a strong army. In recent years, the brigade has specialized in refining information-based equipment, focusing on continuous efforts in preparing for war, and has been rated as "advanced unit in the actual combat assessment of equipment of the whole army" and "model unit for practicing the goal of strengthening the army" by the army.
The new journey of strengthening the army in a big stride is like a new chapter in the torch spectrum. Over the past few days, the brigade has dragged its troops to unfamiliar areas in the wilderness to carry out high-intensity, multi-subject, and all-element intensive training; officers and men have shouted the slogan of "carrying forward the traditions of the Red Army and striving to be the vanguard of winning wars." They have expressed one after another that they will train their skills in winning wars with a still more exalted mental state and make new contributions on the march of strengthening the army.
