Is it necessarily life-threatening to have AIDS? These real-life examples tell you: not necessarily

Whether there is salvation or not, sometimes it may be just a thought. Thanks for the invitation, I am Dr. Wang, who has been engaged in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment for many years and is also a psychological counselor.

We have entered the 21st century, but some knowledge and ideas may still be stuck in the last century.

Let me start with an example from my side.

I know a woman infected who was detected in 2000 and is now working in her job for 22 years.

According to the sister's recollection, at the beginning of her diagnosis, the country has not yet begun to standardize antiviral treatment, and then slowly appeared antiviral single drug, and then slowly there are 3 drugs combined with antiviral therapy, for the entire antiviral treatment process she is a witness.

Now she has stable indicators of her body, the disease load is continuously undetectable, and cd4 is within the normal range. And she also takes basic national free medicines. Although the middle of the experience of drug change, but the reason for the change of medicine is not drug resistance, but because of the existence of drug rash, of course, even if the change of medicine is still the country's free medicine, but the type is different.

Therefore, the perception of AIDS is far from what people remembered many years ago, and the infected people are skinny and boney, with Kapozi sarcoma all over the body, and they are in pain.

In fact, existing studies have shown that after the current infection with HIV, good regular antiviral treatment, maintain CD4 in the normal value range, life expectancy will not be greatly affected, so we must actively cooperate with treatment.

In addition, some A-friends may have some misconceptions, they will think that once they take the drug, they can never leave the drug, so when I am not in a good condition, I can start taking the drug, which can effectively avoid the side effects of the drug and the inconvenience caused by daily medication. The stakes outweigh the costs.

Little L was found in the preoperative examination of the bowel hernia surgery, which was the day before the waiting operation, and the doctor deliberately went to the ward to find him and inform him to go alone to a separate room. After entering the room, the doctor first let him sit down, and then told him that your preoperative test results came out and were positive for HIV antibodies.

At that time, he was unprepared in his heart, when he heard the news, he was confused, he said that the moment the doctor told him, his eyes were dark, and then the doctor talked to him for a long time, but what was specifically told, he actually did not listen to it, and only the three words "AIDS" echoed repeatedly in his ears.

He never imagined that AIDS would be so close to him, and how the terrible disease that he had only seen in the media would reach him. For a while, the kind little L was afraid that he would infect the medical staff. Whenever the doctor came to round the room and the nurse came to give him an infusion, he was very worried, and he did not forget to tell the doctors and nurses to be careful not to hurt themselves.

Because he did not understand the disease, he decided that he was terminally ill and would soon lose his life. For a long time, his mood was very low, and he often cried bitterly in no-man's corner, once wanting to end his life, but thinking of his family, thinking of his elderly parents, he had to give up this idea.

The stubborn little L, who has not been treated with antivirals for a long time, seems to be punishing himself in another way to get spiritual relief. Until later, he suddenly had fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, and went to the hospital for treatment, and after the doctor's examination, he found that he had a lung infection, and the admission examination was diagnosed as tuberculosis, which is a complication of AIDS. At this time, he regretted that he did not have time to treat it.

After anti-tuberculosis treatment, Xiao L quickly began antiviral therapy. Although there were only 15 CD4 at that time, fortunately the effect of antiviral therapy was not bad, and after a period of combination treatment with the basic free drug "Tirai", his CD4 slowly rose to more than 500, and the disease load could not be detected continuously.

Little L was undoubtedly lucky, although the treatment was late, but eventually CD4 returned to above the normal level. Many infected people who are treated late may not be so lucky, they or CD4 have difficulty returning to normal levels, or have serious opportunistic infections or tumors, or even lose their lives.

It is still very serious to talk about it here, if you delay treatment for the above reasons, the gain is not worth the loss. Because the infection is not treated, the virus continues to replicate in the body, which will always destroy the body's immune system. If the level of CD4 cells is too low, the chance of rising to normal level after treatment is greatly reduced, which can have an impact on life expectancy. And if the treatment is too late, serious complications such as infection or tumors may occur, it is even more difficult to treat.

Therefore, if you have AIDS and are saved, it depends on whether you choose normative treatment or not.

Moreover, with the progress of medical science and technology, the range of antiviral therapy drugs is becoming more and more extensive, from the discovery of AIDS in 1981 when there was no cure, to the slow research of antiviral treatment drugs, from a single antiviral treatment drug, to the combination of three drugs, to the current emergence of a variety of drug components of the combination of composite tablets, and then to a month, two months or even semi-annual long-term sustained-release injections are about to enter the clinic, the inconvenience of taking drugs is getting smaller and smaller, and the side effects are gradually decreasing.

Surviving with illness is no longer a problem.
