In the hangar not far from the runway, the crew officers and men were busy overhauling the fighters. On the outer wall of the hangar, there are several large red characters- "Soldier like Dou Shujun", which is particularly conspicuous against the white snow.
Who is Dou Shujun? What kind of soldier is he?
He is a "soldier expert" in the field of non-destructive flaw detection in the Air Force, a "warplane doctor" who will never allow faults to be brought to flight and has worked for 30 years without errors.
With the help of his comrades-in-arms, Dou Shujun climbed out of the air intake tract of a fighter with a diameter of less than 60 centimeters. The air intake space is narrow and allows only one person to crawl, like a stove in summer and like an ice cellar in winter. Dou Shujun used the position of crawling and lying down, holding a 5-kilogram flaw detector, dealing with the intake tract for 30 years.
On the cold days of counting nine, Dou Shujun was dressed in thin ground work clothes, and his thin cheeks were glowing green and white. Putting on the military coat handed over by his comrades-in-arms and a cup of hot ginger tea, his face gradually became rosy. Dou Shujun, who was not very tall and usually silent, was inconspicuous in a group of aircraft guards, but the rank of first-class sergeant major made people have to pay attention to him.
The engine is like the heart of a fighter, and Dou Shujun's area of responsibility is to test the engine blades. Engines made of steel seem indestructible, but the blades are affected by various factors and are prone to small cracks that are invisible to the naked eye. These cracks can cause blades to break at high speeds, posing a fatal hazard to flight safety. In order to avoid this hidden danger, it is necessary for the flaw detector to prevent the problem through a series of professional detection methods.
In recent years, Dou Shujun has tested more than 9,000 sorties of 10 types of aircraft and tested more than 850,000 blades of various types. He explored and summarized the three-step positioning flaw detection method, which greatly improved the accuracy of flaw detection.
A few years ago, several local airlines targeted Dou Shujun, who was famous in the industry, and all sent invitations with generous treatment. Almost without any hesitation, Dou Shujun firmly chose to stay in the army and continue to "take the pulse" for the war eagle. In 2020, considering that the troops have just been equipped with new fighters, he has reached retirement age and took the initiative to apply for postponement of service, and until now he has still stuck to his position and dutifully tested for the fighters.
"Wings hardened for the party to fly!" In Dou Shujun's view, the moment when the pilot gave him a thumbs up before every fighter took off was the moment he was most proud of.
The wind gradually subsided, and the sunlight spilled through the gaps in the clouds to the earth, and the entire airport was shrouded in a golden glow. Before the unit was officially moved, it had been temporarily stationed on a farm in the Gobi Desert. Because of the limited rooms, officers and soldiers could only work and live together, and there was no place to put Liu Jiaping's research and development equipment.
Liu Jiaping went back and forth on the farm several times, and finally found a slightly more spacious place - the vegetable cellar. With the consent of the unit, he moved all the equipment in. At that time, Liu Jiaping often worked overtime until late at night, and when he was tired, he would rest on the rice bag for a while.
The vegetable cellar was dimly lit and the ventilation effect was not good, but it could not stop Liu Jiaping's forward pace. In the past two years, the command control system and intelligent power supply system of a certain type of equipment developed by him have won the third prize of the Military Science and Technology Progress Award.
Climbing up to the second floor of the "Technician's House", Liu Jiaping stopped at the door of the third office on the left turn. On the brown-red wooden door, the sign of "Liu Jiaping Studio" is embedded. He had gazed at this sign countless times, and his heart was not only touched but also had a responsibility and mission.
A few years ago, with the completion of the new camp, the repair workshop was officially put into use. On that day, Liu Jiaping and his comrades-in-arms walked into the workshop excitedly. In 2020, the repairman's room was transformed into a "technician's home", and a group of "makers" like Liu Jiaping applied to settle in, and a large number of innovative ideas took root, sprouted and grew here.
At 3 a.m., Liu Jiaping turned off the lights and walked out of the studio. His appearance was reflected in the military mirror at the entrance of the building—broad shoulders, tall, slightly hunched over, two eyes shining seriously under the thick lenses, and black hair already stained with wind and frost. Liu Jiaping struggled to straighten his back in the mirror and couldn't help but sigh that time had flown by — it was his 26th year as a soldier.

Wang Youwu's technical support group manages and maintains more than 40 types of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and other equipment, a total of more than 300 sets. Scrapped, retired, in-service, and unassigned, spanning more than 60 years, is enough to form a large-scale "exhibition hall".
In the quiet workshop at night, carefully overhauling equipment and updating the ledger are habits that Wang Youwu, as the leader of the group, has developed for many years. Rough palm prints and the smell of motor oil that cannot be dissipated on the body are the traces left by years of repair equipment. How to measure the combat skills of each equipment, when to maintain, and when to replace the parts, Wang Youwu has a clear account in his heart. He has a special affection for these pieces of equipment. In his opinion, although these devices cannot speak, they also have their own temper: if you are patient with them, they will naturally treat you better; the deeper you study and understand them, the more confident they will give you.
In the eyes of his comrades-in-arms, Captain Wang was a down-to-earth and capable person. In the 23 years of service, he has mastered the driving and maintenance skills of 22 types of tanks and armored vehicles and the operation and use of more than 20 kinds of artillery. Just from the driving trajectory, motor sound and transmission manipulator operation, he can tell whether the tank and armored vehicle are normal. Several leaders talked about him with praise: as long as Lao Wang is there, there is nothing to worry about in the various business of tank armor.
Wang Youwu felt that he was not so godly, he did not have the experience of learning in the college system, and the post was his classroom. Having been dealing with tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery for a long time, Wang Youwu had a temper similar to that of these equipment. Under the rough appearance of the Northwest Hanzi, Wang Youwu worked exceptionally carefully. During one test, the tank tasked with the test suddenly failed. Wang Youwu found through investigation that this was caused by the fuse falling off and the tubing being loose. After a quick troubleshooting, the same problem occurred a few days after the equipment. To this end, Wang Youwu repeatedly tried, and found that after the tank traveled at a speed of 20-30 km / h for a period of time, it would cause the resonance of the parts in the car, and eventually lead to the link interface falling off. The unit promptly feedback the problems and improvement suggestions to the military factory. Similar equipment improvement suggestions, Wang Youwu has successively put forward more than 20 articles in recent years.
In the snowy plateau and the desert Gobi, the field test is not only an extreme assessment of the performance of equipment, but also a huge challenge to the ability and quality of the officers and men participating in the test. The lights went out and whistled, the night grew darker, and the camp was silent. The repair room in the corner of the depot was still lit, a thin figure, bent over, still groping for something in the parts box, a pair of calloused hands looked much rougher than ordinary people.
In this 88-square-meter square-meter world, Zhu Xiaoyin stayed for 17 years. Whenever he is here, Zhu Xiaoyin's energy is extremely concentrated - here, he has completed thousands of vehicle repairs, ensuring the safety of nearly 100 vehicles.
In 2008, the workshop had just been completed. At that time, every time it was necessary to lift a bulky gearbox, Zhu Xiaoyin and three or four comrades-in-arms always tiptoed against the wall, manually hydraulically lifted, time-consuming and laborious, not to mention, the gearbox was shaking under the large hanger, and there were still safety hazards.
Zhu Xiaoyin moved his mind to improve the big hanger. He took the opportunity of the electric power department to come to the camp for maintenance, and pestered the technicians to ask how to lift it was labor-saving and safe. When the technician left, he gave him a pamphlet "Pulley Set", which made Zhu Xiaoyin a treasure.
During that time, Zhu Xiaoyin was always full of oil stains, repeatedly modifying and assembling pulley sets in the repair room. After 1 month, the crane transmission track pulley set was finally successfully installed. The new pulley group scientifically combines moving and fixed pulleys, improves the lifting accuracy through preset tracks, and fixes the gearbox and the hook at three points, which not only saves effort and convenience, but also makes the gearbox "stable as Taishan".
This incident made Zhu Xiaoyin famous in the headquarters, and everyone knew that the mobile detachment had a brainy maintenance technician. In the face of praise, Zhu Xiaoyin was a little uncomfortable. For him, he just thought a little more than others. He used to say, "Even if it's a small part, a small line, you fool it, it will fool you." ”
That summer, Zhu Xiaoyin participated in a large-scale exercise mission. When the troops arrived at the designated area to prepare for the operation, an equipment vehicle suddenly failed to catch fire. After Zhu Xiaoyin inspected it, he found that this was just a small problem, and the battery head of the vehicle was corroded. After replacing the parts, the equipped car quickly regained power. It turns out that the vehicle is maneuvering for a long time in a bumpy environment, and the electrolyte in the battery is easy to overflow and corrode the battery head - this is inevitable in the eyes of the driver.
"Although it is a small problem, the impact is not small, can't it be prevented before it happens?" Returning to the unit, Zhu Xiaoyin looked around for information and conducted many experiments. He found that cleaning the battery head with boiling water during vehicle maintenance and then applying grease can effectively solve the problem of battery head corrosion. This simple and efficient maintenance method is passed ten to ten hundred in the driver. At the end of the year, this method was also promoted as a teaching content for the training of detachment drivers.
Over the past ten years, Zhu Xiaoyin has overcome one repair technical difficulty after another, and has innovated more than 10 repair equipment. The notebooks he recorded were stacked up half a person high, and the first page of each notebook without exception neatly wrote a line from "Soldier Assault": "What you should think about is not to become a special soldier, but to be kind to yourself and be a good soldier." ”
Ordinary soldiers have never been ordinary. Zhu Xiaoyin's spirit of loving to study and working hard also infected the comrades-in-arms around him.
