Once Upon a Time in America (1984)

Once Upon a Time in America contains everything a man can encounter in this world. Friendship, love, thoughts, responsibilities, conflicts. It's more like a dream that people don't want to wake up, when noodles lie in bed, in the warm lights and the confusing telephone ringing, back to those lost years, this dream begins, until the last noodles finally smile, we return to our lives, to continue those endless stories. What gang, what vendetta, turned out not to matter, the impression was only a frizzy teenager, peeking at a beautiful girl dancing; only a guilty brother, who went to bed early every day; only a white-haired old man, facing a betrayed friendship, in a calm tone, silent. Once Upon a Time in America takes you to a three-hour, forty-five-minute dream. Life is like a dream, and this may be the only feeling. This is one of Leone's "American Trilogy", the image of the United States in the eyes of Italians in the 20s and 60s. The director changed the pattern of traditional Hollywood Western films and created the character image of the American underworld people born into death from a unique perspective.

◎Introduction

In the United States in the twenties, New York teenager "Noodles" (Robert De Niro) and a few friends of the same age meet the clever and cunning "Maida" (James Woods), and they begin to engage in smuggling activities. Soon after, Noodles was killed in a gunfight and imprisoned.

A few years later, "Noodles" was released from prison, and the friends at that time had become able-bodied young people, and under the leadership of "Makda", they began a series of robbery, theft, and extortion activities. As the criminal activities continued to deepen, "Maida" seemed to be carried away by the victory and even included the US Federal Reserve Bank in the target of the operation. "Noodles" can't bear to see his friend going to ruin, and secretly calls the police to force "Mai Da" to give up. The police engaged in a fierce gun battle with Noodle's friends, and "Mai Da" and others were all killed. With deep remorse and pain, "Noodles" leaves New York and returns to the place where he grew up as a teenager.

Thirty-five years have passed, and the nearly dying "Noodles" has returned to the sad place of New York, he has met his childhood friends and old lovers, and the death of "Mai Da" at that time contains an unexpected conspiracy behind them.

Behind the scenes:

[About the movie]

Once Upon a Time in America is not an obvious genre film, and while it takes its backdrop from the gangster films of the 30s and 70s (the original author of the film, Harry Grey, is indeed a true former gangster), gangster movies simply provide a story vector. The protagonist of the film, Noodles, is not like a gangster character in a traditional gangster movie, he is more like an ordinary person who succumbs to the environment and intuition, and also pays a lifetime of price to seek the ultimate redemption. In fact, director Sergio Leone was very careful to select and deliberate on the film, which is why he, as an Italian, set the characters in the background of a Jewish gangster. Most American gangster movies are about Italian-American or Irish-American gangs, but jewish gangs that were once more active during prohibition are rarely mentioned in movies.

In a way, Once Upon a Time in America is a purely author's film, carrying all of director Sergio Leone's "American complexes" (Sergio Leone himself was not born in the United States and has not lived in the United States for a long time), what he wants to tell is not a logically complete traditional story, but a pure self-expression of his own history, culture and spirit of the United States that he has loved all his life. Because his understanding of the other side of the ocean is not an Italian-American like Coppola who grew up on the street, but through American films on the screen and accumulated, he will make a film with a non-American temperament of American themes to complete the things he has sought all his life.

[About the Director]

In the eyes of later film historians, Sergio Leone was an underrated master of cinema, or a misinterpreted man, and his films were always given low-grade titles, such as "macaroni (Italian) Westerns" and other hats. But after 20 years, his contributions to the art of cinema are finally being belatedly acknowledged. His representative works include "For a Few Dollars", "For More Dollars" and "Good, Bad, Ugly". All three were starred by the famous American actor Easter Wood and achieved worldwide success. His most proud works are the "American Trilogy" set against the backdrop of nearly a hundred years of American history, namely "Once Upon a Time in the West", "Once Upon a Time in the Revolution" and "Once Upon a Time in America". Once Upon a Time in the West depicts the life of immigrants in the United States in the late 19th century and the story of its development of the West; Once Upon a Time in the Revolution is set against the backdrop of politics and describes the role of politics in the United States and the relationship between the United States and its neighbors. "Once Upon a Time in America" is a microcosm of life in the big cities of the United States in the 20s and 60s. The perspective of "Once Upon a Time in America" is unique, the image of the United States in the eyes of Italians, and it can be said that this film is a criticism of the American image created by Hollywood.

[About the soundtrack]

The film's soundtrack master Enio Morricone chose instruments that are very much in line with the "mysterious" and "dreamy" characteristics of the film, with its long whimpering or dreamy drifting sound, coupled with the combination of strings and vocals, so that the music expresses what the picture cannot express. When old noodles return to their old ways, Morrican uses soothing, soft rhythms and melodies, and the music subtly hints at the changes of the times and the passage of time, showing the turbulent heart of noodles under the calm appearance. When noodles meet alone with Deborah in a tavern, Morriccan uses a gentle, sentimental Deborah theme, using a graceful, euphemistic string ensemble. The music is full of sentimentality in the beauty, and it seems to have already laid the stage for the unfortunate ending of the two people. As noodles slowly drove away at the crowded train station to watch the doomed deborah train drive away, the mournful, flowing, wordless hum of the soprano Ida sounded in her ears. It also fully expresses the feeling of resentment and loss of noodles. Composer Enio Morricón won the 1984 Academy Award for Best Score for the film. Even many people think that the film's classic soundtrack masks the film's own excellence.

It is a gangster epic film depicting the conflict between friendship and antagonism, loyalty and betrayal, directed by Italian director Sergio Leone, who became famous for making Italian Westerns, is one of Leone's "American trilogy" and is the image of the United States in the 20s and 60s in the eyes of Italians. The director changed the pattern of traditional Hollywood Western films and created the character image of the American underworld people born into death from a unique perspective. The film is quite imposing, and the depiction of violence has a poetic meaning. Spanning 40 years, major events ranging from the Great Depression and Prohibition to World War I are the backdrop. The film only selects a few characters and a few events from the original work, using a typical Hollywood narrative structure. The difference is that the film's temporal and spatial structure is quite distinctive, gradually unfolding the story through the memories of the protagonist Noodle, and the story is always carried out in a kind of chaotic debt entanglement between Noodles and Max. The film won two Academy Awards for Best Soundtrack and Best Costume Design at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts in 1984, and was nominated for Best Director at the 1985 Golden Globe Awards.

Tidbits:

While Robert De Niro plays "Noodles" while watching TV, the show interviews a man named James Conway O'Donnell. And in Robert De Niro's 1990 film Goodfellas, De Niro's character is named James Conway.

In preparation for the role of David Allenson in the film, Robert De Niro requested a private interview with the famous jianghu boss Meyer Lansky, who was the prototype of the film's character. Unfortunately, however, this request was rejected.

According to James Wood, Robert De Niro had advised him that In order to fit the role of an elderly rich and empty man, Wood should have glossy clothes and bright teeth, but the producers were worried about budget overruns, and in the end It was De Niro who paid for the expenses himself.

The director was inspired by Harry Gray's autobiographical novel "The Hoods", which is said to have taken Several years for Sergey Leon to obtain permission from the original author himself in order to make the novel into a film. Stuart Kaminsky, one of the screenwriters, recalls that he had more than 400 pages of the film's outline.

After the rough cut was completed, Sergey Lyon's printed film was 10 hours long, and then cut to a 6-hour version that he was more satisfied with. Later, at the time of release, it was intended to be cut into a 4-hour version, but he strongly agreed that the two- to three-hour version would be more appropriate. However, the studio was not very satisfied with this and asked someone to reduce the film to a shorter one.

Robert De Niro takes Elizabeth McGavin out to a hotel that is actually in Venice. Shortly thereafter, the outlaw knight rode the wind and waves at sea on the coastline of New Jersey, USA.

Schindler's list (1993)

The so-called responsibility is what must be done that may not be done. For Schindler, rescuing the bereaved Jews was a responsibility as a real human being. Bringing that history to the screen was Spielberg's responsibility as a Jewish artist. Schindler's List contains the tribute to the victims, the homage to the saviors, and the belief that the light must come. Amid the accolades after the film's screening, Spielberg calmly donated the entire proceeds of the film to the Holocaust Memorial in the United States.

<h2 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > synopsis of Schindler's list</h2>

In 1939, Poland was ruled by Nazi Germany and the SS imposed a quarantine on Jews. German businessman Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson) came to Krakow under German rule and opened an enamel factory to produce munitions supplies. With his superior social skills and large amounts of money, Schindler established good relations with the German army, and his factory hired Jews to work and made a fortune from the war.

In 1943, the Jews of Krakow were subjected to a terrible massacre, and Schindler was so shocked by all this that he bribed the officers to make his factory an affiliated labor camp for concentration camps, and in those days of frenzied massacres, his factory became a refuge for Jews.

In 1944, on the eve of Germany's defeat, the killing of Jews became more and more frantic, and Schindler listed 1200 German officers and bought the lives of these Jews. In those dark years, to save one person is to save the whole world.

Contents:

Banker Andy, after a frustrated late night, is taken to court as the murderer of his wife and lover. The infidelity of his wife, the treachery of his lawyers, the misjudgment of judges, the ferocity of the prison guards, and the greed and contempt of the warden suddenly pushed Andy, who was in his in-depth life, from the peak of his life to the hell of the world. He was sentenced to life in prison and sent to the impregnable Shark Castle Prison.

After witnessing corruption in prison, he knows that it is difficult to regain his innocence, and that only escaping from prison is the way to survive. So he began to carry out his own plan secretly, and he met Ray, a criminal who specialized in black market trading in prison, and got the Bible and some of the most inconspicuous little things from Ray. At the same time, he insisted on petitioning letters for nearly a decade, and established the best prison library in the United States for Shark Castle Prison. He also selflessly tutored many prisoners to obtain the same degree, so that they could continue their studies in prison and lay the foundation for their future freedom and social advancement.

Andy is a symbol of dignity in the hearts of his fellow inmates, and his talent, intellect, and charisma have earned him Ray's sincere friendship. His financial expertise made him a powerful helper for the prison guards, and even a personal financial assistant to the warden, which made Andy's escape plan possible.

When a young burglar tells Andy that he has met the real murderer of Andy's wife and lover in another prison, Andy can no longer restrain his feelings, and he hopes that the warden will help him to settle his grievances and get justice. Who knows, the warden is determined not to let Andy return to the human world because he knows the inside story of his corruption and bribery, but he brutally kills the young thief and imprisons Andy in black jail again.

Unable to bear it, Andy finally escaped from prison on a thunderous night and regained his freedom. When the warden opens Andy's cell door the next day, he finds him gone. The warden, who had a premonition of the end of the world, committed suicide after the prosecutor received evidence of the warden's guilt sent by Andy.

  Movie background

"The Shawshank Redemption" is based on the novel "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" by American writer Stephen King, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 1994, and received seven nominations for the American Academy Film Awards that year, including Best Picture, but the U.S. domestic box office revenue was only $28 million, which is extremely disproportionate to its reputation in the public opinion circles, but in 1995, with the premiere of CBS cable network, It beat the blockbuster film "True Lies" that year and took the crown of no. 1 in the household video tape rental and sales list.

Wonderful reviews

Old Testament. Isaiah says, "Zion will be redeemed by fairness, and those who convert will be redeemed by righteousness." But the disobedient and the sinful will perish together, and those who forsake the Lord will perish. This is said to be the origin of the word "redemption." According to rough statistics, the word appears as many as 16 times in the entire book of Isaiah. It is clear that it symbolizes the practice of Christ's thought and has a very important significance. So much so that in the religious era, "redemption" once became the key word that influenced the Western spiritual world because of its clear directionality. That being the case, we can conclude that "salvation" arose in specific groups of people (Christians) and in specific ages (religious years), and with the lack of faith in Western society since the 20th century, humanism replaced Theosophy, and finally, those who were eliminated were the losers who became the sacrifices of the system and were quickly submerged in the vortex of institutionalization.

Of course, Andy not only changed his own fate through his own actions, but also deeply affected the other people in the cage: Ann Others: Ann Others: Ann Others. The name of the movie

《肖申克的救赎》影评 Some birds aren't meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are just too bright.

Some birds can never be shut down, because each of their wings is stained with the radiance of freedom!

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

Hope is beautiful, perhaps the best in the world, and good things never die.

Shawshank Redemption is one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen. The story is not so much about the protagonist Andy successfully escaping from prison and regaining his freedom, but rather the process of Andy's salvation from soul to body. In my opinion, the profound, esoteric religious, social, and philosophy of life expressed in this film is the most important reason for the film's praise. That is to say, this film touches on the deepest things of the human soul, and it reflects on a profound theme of institutionalization and anti-institutionalization, hope and despair, and soul redemption.

Institutionalized, hope, and redemption are the three most critical soul words in Shaw' films, and understanding these three words allows us to interpret the themes explored in the film very well.

The first word, Institutionalized, is what the film says through the mouth of Reid (Mogran Freeman). He said: "first you hate them ,then you get used to,enough time passes... you get so you depend on them 。 That is instititutionalized (At first, you hate it, then you get used to it, and after enough time you start to rely on him.) This is institutionalization)". To understand the so-called institutionalization in the film, we can look back at the life of Lao Bu (the librarian of the prison). Lao Bu spent 50 years in prison, that is, under a system, almost a lifetime. It is conceivable that the once young Bu, when he first entered this system, he must have been like all the NEW fish (rookies) who have just entered Shawshank, cynical and tried to resist, and then, like most prisoners, they gradually discovered that rebellion is equal to futility, so they gradually changed from rebellion against the system to slow acceptance and then learned to adapt to the system, and finally developed into a heavy dependence on the system. Poor Lao Bu, his soul and body have been completely institutionalized, but in the twilight years but was banished from the system, it is conceivable that Lao Bu could not survive under an almost completely unfamiliar system, at this time Lao Bu and the system is tantamount to a fetus being cut off the umbilical cord, so Lao Bu finally chose to end his life.

The second word hope (hope). The interpretation of the term unfolds through an argument between Andy and Red over lunch. Faith and hope, Andy said: "Forget that there are ... places... in the world that aren't made out of stone,

there is something ... inside... that they can't get to... That is hope (don't forget that there is something in this world that can penetrate all the high walls, it is in the depths of our hearts, they can't reach it, and they can't touch it, that's hope"),, but the wise Red immediately retorted: "Let me tell you something my friend." hope is a dangerous thing hope can drive a man insane it's got no use on the inside.you'd better get used to that idea The hope that something dangerous can drive people crazy, the hope in our hearts is useless at all. You'd better get used to this idea)"

Andy's Redemption – The Salvation of Individuals and Groups of Souls

Understanding the above two words, institutionalization and anti-institutionalization, hope and despair, our protagonist Andy begins the theme of the film - the redemption of the soul. In the world of Shawshank, we can divide people into two groups: groups within the system and groups outside the system. The system includes people like the warden and the warden, who are the founders, enforcers and maintainers of the system, and the warden and the fierce prison guard are undoubtedly the embodiment of Satan, the fierce ruler. Shawshank's prisoners, on the other hand, undoubtedly belong to the outside of the system, they are the obedient and assimilated people of the system. Prisoners outside the system can be divided into four categories, hero represented by Andy, elite represented by Red, the masses represented by Lao Bu, and also ran represented by fat boys who are tortured to death. Heroes are soul-transcendent of the system, and although their bodies have to obey the constraints of the system, the heroes can use their great souls and great actions to constantly change the system and transcend the system. Elites belong to the category of people who have a deep understanding of the system and have tried to resist but ultimately choose to compromise. What elites and heroes have in common is that in the depths of the soul, both have hope. The difference between the elite and the hero is that the hero, in addition to believing in hope spiritually, also tries to change the system in action, and this excellent and intelligent effort is the root of the hero's hero. Although the elite still have faith in hope in their souls, they have completely given up the possibility of resistance in action, and although they are not institutionalized in the soul, they are completely institutionalized in the flesh. Secondly, the vast majority of the masses (even sentient beings like you and me) have tried to resist, but under the powerful institutionalized force, they have unfortunately been completely institutionalized from spirit to body. In the end, it is the losers who are eliminated, who become the sacrifices of the system and are quickly submerged in the vortex of institutionalization.

Of course, Andy not only changed his own fate through his own actions, but also deeply affected the other people in the cage: Andy expanded the library in prison, helped other prisoners to read and write, the problem youth who got the same degree is the model of salvation, a hippie who crossed a generation can be indoctrinated into a gentleman, and we have to sigh at the power of redemption. Thus Andy's salvation is not just the act of an individual, but also the act of a group, which is fully in line with the Christian definition of salvation. When explaining and explaining Andy's rebellion, the film uses a highly religious word- redemption. Tracing the religious origins of the word, it's easy to recall the story of Jesus' soul salvation, in fact, the Bible appears once in the film, and the Bible is quoted. Ironically, the morally upright warden appeared to be a holy saint on the outside and his deeds and heart were dirty like the devil. Next to his office was another delicate saying: The judgment of the Lord is coming, but this last judgment will finally come to this judge.

Therefore, the most important contribution of "Shaw" is an allegorical exposition of the historical view and a religious reflection on individual salvation and group redemption.

Reflections on the film – redemption is in your heart and mine

It is not difficult to understand that Shawshank is nothing more than a fable, and it actually exists in our real lives. Everyone in reality is consciously or unconsciously playing the role of a prisoner or prison owner in Shawshank. Most of us will be reduced to the fate of Lao Bu, gradually institutionalized until we are heavily dependent on the system, and we have never overstepped the rules throughout our lives. Any organization, system, or society can look at Shawshank as a microcosm. For example, our university is, to some extent, a Shawshank castle, when we leave this castle, the vast majority of us are destined to be institutionalized, even if we enter society, the erosion of people by the system has not stopped for a moment, social history is in the cycle of institutionalization and resistance to institutionalization, but salvation is entirely in our own choice, just like Andy's choice, even the most powerful system can never deprive us of the right to choose salvation, because, Salvation is in our hearts, and it is a place that no power can reach. To being, or not to being, choosing salvation or despair, choosing hero or choosing the masses, choosing God or choosing Satan, all of this is in your heart and mine

Classic lines from The Shawshank Redemption

"The Shawshank Redemption" is a rare classic film that will have a deep understanding every time you watch it. There are quite a few classic lines in it, excerpted below:

1、It takes a strong man to save himself, and a great man to save another.

Translation: Strong people can only redeem themselves, and great people can save others

2、Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

Translation: Hope is beautiful, perhaps the best in the world, and good things never die.

3、some birds aren't meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are just too bright...

Translation: Some birds are not kept captive because their feathers are so beautiful!

4、I find I’m so excited. I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.

Translation: I found myself so excited that I couldn't sit down quietly and think. I think only those who have regained their freedom and are about to embark on a new journey can feel the excitement of unveiling the mysteries of the future. I want to cross thousands of mountains and rivers to hold my friends' hands, I want the waters of the Pacific Ocean to be as blue as in a dream: I hope...

5、Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free. A strong man can save himself. A great man can save another.

Translation: Cowardice imprisons the soul of a man, hoping to feel free. The strong save themselves, and the saints cross the people.

6、Prison life consists of routine, and then mort routine.

Translation: Prison life is full of routines after routines.

7、These walls are kind of funny like that. First you hate them, then you get u sed to them. Enough time passed, get so you depend on them. That`s institution alized.

Translation: The high walls in the prison are really interesting. When you first go to jail, you hate the walls around you; slowly, you get used to living in them; eventually you find yourself having to live on it. That is institutionalization.

8、There`s not a day goes by I don`t feel regret. Not because I`m in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then. Then a young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can`t. That kid`s long gone and this old man is all that`s left. I got to live with that. Rehabilitated? It`s just a bullshit word. So you go on and stamp your form, sorry, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don`t give a shit.

Translation: I feel guilty about what I did all the time, not because I'm here (referring to prison) or to please you (referring to parole officers). Looking back on the detours I've taken, how much I wanted to say something to that stupid young man who had committed a felony, to tell him how I felt right now, to tell him that there were other ways to solve the problem. But I couldn't do it. The young man had long since been drowned in the river of years, leaving only an old man alone to face the past. Being human again? That's a lie! Boy, don't waste my time anymore, stamp your stamp, I have nothing more to say.

9、I guess it comes down to a simple choice:get busy living or get busy dying.

Translation: Life boils down to a simple choice: to be busy surviving or to die.

So, in this film, who is the redemption of whom and who is the deserving of whom?

Without any freedom of argument, the tongue-in-cheek attorney general gave Andy's life to Shawshank for long years. The wronged bankers would not resign themselves to fate, but Shawshank was not a blessed land, and someone was beaten to death on the first night. "Give faith to God, give the body to me." The warden's precepts were very explicit, and he meant nothing more than "Here you have no freedom, you must do anything unconditionally, there are no unrealistic illusions, it belongs to God", and thus a struggle for dignity and humanity begins, but in this struggle the Redeemer is not God.

The Redeemer is two words: hope. What is redeemed is also two words: freedom.

Readers of this article may think that I am too abstract, but as you keep flashing back to those fragments in your head from beginning to end, you will easily understand why I am saying this.

Hope is the theme of the whole film.

Before Andy came to Shawshank, the prison topic except perverted, fighting is to spend time idlely, chaos, dirt, fear, despair together weave the harsh environment here, prisoners have no human rights to speak of, for the warden to sell their cheap labor for free. After Andy's imprisonment, the unwilling banker, though still powerless to change the fact that prisoners are oppressed and humiliated, at least brings hope, an air of free life that has never existed. This hope is different from the warden's verbal statement that "I am the light of the world, and there will be no darkness with me", because he is a complete "pseudochrist", he only does devil's things in the name of Christ, the warden teaches the prisoners to "not blaspheme God", in fact, he regards himself as God, and in his bones, his cruel nature is to make the prisoners submit to "discipline and the Bible", and even "if you want to eat you, you will pull you", and the dark torture finally institutionalized everyone in Shawshank This led to the death of Lao Bu, which led to Red's release from prison still carrying the brand of "asking for instructions" without human rights, losing hope, and never being able to live like a normal person, and the prison director's behavior was to completely destroy the Hope of Shawshank prisoners for the future.

Andy is destined to confront the violent system, and he brings hope. This hope lies in his resolute resistance to the forces of evil (the three sisters), in the carving that does not lose the taste of life, in the beer that has been invited by Haley for everyone without fear of danger, in the fact that he plays beautiful music that everyone has never heard before in front of the prison chief, in his persistent leadership in building the best prison library in all of England, and in his tireless digging of holes in the ground for twenty years to escape. In this regard, we have to say that Andy is a hero who has been poetized by the director, and The portrayal of this character by Dellabante is presented at a glance through several "HOPEs" throughout the play, perhaps he himself is a character in hope, but through his personal efforts, we can see changes in all aspects, the most obvious of which comes from Red. It is hard to imagine that without Andy and his agreement, Red would be like Lao Bu, because he has been institutionalized for a long time and cannot adapt to society, and finally can only "visit here" in a free society after a long period of oppression. True freedom is the freedom of the mind, and it is clear that this is and Andy's redemption of Red with his own actions. There was also a noticeable change from Tommy, the illiterate young man who had actually been admitted to high school under his indoctrination, and in the library that Andy had worked so hard to build, people temporarily forgot about oppression, violence, panic, and the joy of a free and peaceful life brought hope to everyone.

When I look back on this film again, I suddenly feel that this Andy is not another modern version of Jesus. His crucifixion always reveals the Prophecy of the Lord, "Among them the converted will be redeemed by righteousness." But the disobedient and the sinful will perish together; the one who forsaken the Lord will perish", and Delabont does seem to want to portray him as a Jesus-like figure, as interpreted by the long roar from the sky after his escape from Shawshank to the line on the wall before the prison warden committed suicide, "The Lord's Judgment Will Soon Come." However, we can also see in him a free man's spirit of resistance to fate, this is a person who is spiritually liberated, no substantial cage can bind him, as a real person, although his flesh suffered, but did not die, but with practical actions to fight, and Lao Bu, released Jack, but imprisoned himself, which is in stark contrast to Andy's, telling people: No matter where, as long as there is a last bit of hope in the heart, then it is still alive, otherwise, Being content with a numb reality is no different from death.

Yes, it is "hope" that redeems "freedom," the redemption of a reconstructed modern civilization in which we cannot rely on an illusory Savior except ourselves. Mandela said, "The heart is the strongest part of a person." "If our hearts don't stop, hope is always there.

Finally, let's end with the letter Andy left for Red:

...... Having hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing, and there is always hope with hope... Now that you've come this far, go a little farther

【Introduction】

During the Vietnam War, U.S. Captain Willard was ordered from headquarters to find Colonel Coates, who had broken away from the U.S. Army. Coates once had a glorious history, but now it's insane. He established an independent kingdom in Cambodia, pursued barbaric, bloody, inhuman brutality, and sporadic radio propaganda to the U.S. military in a frenzied, almost nonsensical manner. Willard was ordered to find Coates and bring him back or kill him. With this order, Willard led a small group of soldiers up the Mekong River and crossed the jungle to Cambodia. In the search for Colonel Coates, Willard crossed almost the entire Vietnamese battlefield. He witnessed scenes of atrocities, horrors, killings and deaths, and was deeply shaken. In the midst of the constant killing, Willard also almost became crazy.

In the end, Willard and his party finally arrived in Coates's Kingdom of Terror. They fell into Coates's hands and were tortured. But it also allowed Willard to face Coates directly. Coates could have killed Willard, but he didn't, and with the help of Willard's hand, he completed the long-awaited death and finally got free from this crazy world. And Willard also deeply experienced the evil and darkness in the human heart, and experienced the madness caused by evil. The natives knelt before him, and he had effectively replaced Coates. Feeling disgusted by all this, Willa della gathered up her companions and boarded the ship and left. Coates' madness was stopped, but throughout the Vietnamese battlefield, terror and killing were still going on in a frenzy.

The film is ostensibly about the Vietnam War, but of all the famous war films, it is probably the most "sublimated" one. It can be applied to any war, and even broadly speaking, it cannot be overstated to express any life experience. Although the film has no shortage of positive depictions of the war, its essence is to portray the darkness in human nature, and it is no wonder that it is not based on the Vietnam War record, but is adapted from the British novelist Conrad's classic "Heart of Darkness". Malone? The officer played by Brando is not much, and the lines and processing are very "illusory", as if it is a force, not someone. The film is a reflection of Coppola's alienation of humanity caused by the violence of war, cleverly blending the theme and symbolism of realism, and taking a warrior's journey along the river in search of Brando as a clue, unfolding an almost absurd "live record". The film has a "grand opera" style, exaggerated and gorgeous, with strong expressionist overtones. The bombing scene playing Wagner's Valkyrie theme music on the plane is a concentrated embodiment of this style and one of the classic scenes of this film. The film won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. In 2001, Coppola introduced a new version of the film, nearly an hour more than the original version.

George. Lucas was originally identified as the director of Apocalypse Now, and he learned from John F. Kennedy. Mirius got the script in his hands. Lucas originally planned to make the film in the form of a semi-documentary, set in southern Vietnam, where the war was still raging. Francis. ford. Coppola was originally the executive producer of the film, trying to make a production plan business with Warner Bros., but after the deal failed, he began to work on the "Godfather" (1972). When Saigon fell in 1977, Lucas was already busy filming his Star Wars, and Mirius had no interest in the film, so Lucas gave the power to direct the film to the coveted Coppola.

Coppola thinks of himself as Malone. Brando vs Joseph. Conrad's Heart of Darkness must have been familiar to him, and he thought he was the perfect choice for the film, looking forward to the appearance of the legendary actor. When Brando appeared, Coppola was shocked. He had never read Heart of Darkness or even knew its verses. To make matters worse, Brando has become severely fat (Coates is repeatedly described in the novel as a skinny tall man). After many blows, Coppola decided to shoot Brando as tall, cruel and savage, and to ensure that Brando's bulging general's belly could not appear in the camera.

Willard is drunk alone in his hotel room in this scene, Martin. Sean was indeed drunk. Sean's drunken demeanor, which can be seen in the film, is a true reflection of him. When Sean breaks the mirror, as shown in the movie, he does hurt his own hand, and the drunken and unconscious Sean gets soaked and finally tries to attack director Coppola.

Francis. ford. Coppola lost 100 pounds during filming.

Coppola spent nearly three years editing the film film of Apocalypse Now, and as he was about to finish it, he realized that Martin. Sean should add some narrative voiceover to the film. However, Sean was too busy to make time to voice at the time. Coppola then took his brother Joe. Eastwoods called over, his voice almost identical to Sean's, and could voice a new narrative voice. When Sean suffered a heart attack during filming in 1976, Eastwoods also served as a stand-in for Sean. Eastwoods did not leave his name on the credits for his work.

Coppola shot nearly 200 hours of film for the film. The original shooting was planned for six weeks, and the results lasted for 16 months. In order to shoot the scene of the typhoon's destruction, it was delayed for several months.

In May 1979, the film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first film in history to win the award but was not yet completed. Because the Cannes jury could not agree, they shared the best picture award with Schlöndorfer's "Tin Drum".

Wear gang shots:

Continuity: After Coates was killed, Willard looked through his manuscripts, and the thickness of the paper changed.

Truth and error: The maximum weight for a Huey helicopter is 10,500 pounds. For this model, it is impossible to pull up a tanker in the river (PBR), because these ships also have 15,000 to 19,000 pounds.

Continuity: After the canopy on board was destroyed, it was replaced by some large leaves. The canopy reappeared when they were under the bridge. After a subsequent set of shots, the canopy disappears again and is replaced by large sheets of leaves.

Found the error: "Clean" wants to put a tape of the recording letter sent by his mother, and takes out a tape recorder, which does not have a battery.

Mistake found: When Willard was reading some news reports about Kolts, one of the articles was about the dispute between West Germany, Iran and the United States over nuclear energy. This has nothing to do with Coates.

Anachronism: Cots' personal records of his honors, including the flight of a Cobra helicopter gunship that planned a celebration (or military parade) on August 30, 1965. However, prototypes of the first Cobra helicopter gunships did not begin flying until September 7, 1965.

Continuity: After Clean was hit, the blood that dripped on the ship's sails was sometimes absent.

Factual error: The Viet Cong often uses tracer bullets throughout the film, especially when the PT ship is attacked by enemy fire, it can be seen that it is red. In fact, the Viet Cong used green tracking munitions, and the U.S. military used red tracking munitions.

V. The Seventh Seal Det sjunde inseglet (1957) Course: Philosophy

Seventh Seal Det sjunde inseglet (1957)

I dare not say that I can understand "The Seventh Seal", but if you want to see a movie before you die, you must choose "The Seventh Seal".

Martin Scorsis once said, "If I had to choose a film before I died, I would have chosen The Seventh Seal." This sentence has two meanings, on the one hand, it expresses martin's love for the film and his reverence for Bergman; on the other hand, it also reveals that the film's deep ideas are worth exploring for a lifetime. Now there are always individual directors who clamor that their films are for people 10 years from now. In front of the real movie masters, they are like monkeys playing tricks. Bergman never explained his films because he knew that his films were not for people of that year, who watched them that year, who watched them 10 years later, and who still watched them 50 years later. Just like me 50 years later, a child living in the era of "Transformers" and "Spider-Man 3", in front of the master, all he can do is to bow down reverently and look at it reverently.

Decadence, depravity, cruelty, melancholy, asceticism, wildness, snuggle, mystery, evil, piety, strange combination. Different people, in the darkness of the end of the century, also have different ways of dealing with the world. This is exactly what the Borgman film The Seventh Seal is about. Bogman personifies death into the god of death, and through the death god chases people, so that different people meet the god of death, or are chased by the god of death, each shows different attitudes. These people have become the "typical" of the world's people, and you and I, who are the audience, have been encircled.

The trouble took place in the Spider Middle Ages, when a Crusader knight returned with his attendants on the Crusade, on the way he encountered the embodiment of the Grim Reaper. At the time of the Great Plague in Europe, he dragged his exhausted body and filled his heart with questions that would take time to unravel: What is the meaning of life? What is the nature of death? He decides to gamble a game of chess with Death, and if he loses, he will let Death take him away. The game of chess lay intermittently. The knights also continued their journey. What he saw and heard on the way made him gradually understand that the truth is the happiness of the world, and it is not by the mana of heaven that saves them, but that human beings nurture life and love each other. However, at this time, Death caught up with him and demanded that he finish the unfinished chess game with him. The result was that the Cavaliers lost. The next day, the Wanderers seem to see Death take the knight away and drag him into a "skull dance" circle.

One sentence comment

Bergman's directness is where the film's strength lies: he is uncompromising in his treatment of good and evil.

The Seventh Seal of Ling is a horror movie, probably the scariest movie ever made.

What is the meaning of life? Does God exist? No one has ever answered these questions as forcefully as Bergman.

The great thing about this film is that it focuses on life and death.

Behind the scenes

The title comes from the book of Revelation in the Bible—"When the Lamb revealed the seventh seal, there was about two moments of silence in heaven." "The highly symbolic imagery in the film is everywhere, whether it is the shape of death or the black eagle circling in the air, it has intriguing implications. These images have become the cornerstone of the film vocabulary and have been repeatedly imitated by posterity. However, viewers who are not interested in religion will find this film difficult to appreciate because it is too heavy.

【Bergman's God】

If, as many people say, Bergman's dark and desolate Seventh Seal is a movie about death, then it is probably a mistake, and The Seventh Seal is not simply a movie about world-weariness. If you've seen the movie three times, then each time you'll gain a new understanding: in fact, it's a movie about faith. Bergman plays a little prank in this movie, and you have to be sober and distinguish between presuppositioned beliefs and true beliefs. God is everywhere in this film, in the comical clowns and newborn babies, in the scene of the morning rise, in the song, we can all see the figure of God. But if we cling to a presupposed understanding, we cannot truly perceive God because we excessively regard the attributes imposed on God by society as His essence. God, Bergman tells us, is much bigger than those who expected.

It is also possible that Bergman is not questioning presupposed beliefs. Brock's wise bodyguard Jens rejected the Christian faith, and even in the face of death, he refused to die like a coward, unless he experienced the triumph of life at the last moment. Jens is the foil of the pessimistic and world-weary Brock: in addition to facing the harsh reality, both people have a sense of life and faith, but Brock clings to the last fragment of "faith" and does not want to fall into the eternal curse, while Jens believes that hell is on the earth. If he believed in the afterlife, he could not turn a blind eye to Brock's beliefs, for whom God existed only in the awakened mind, and he chose to accept atheism, and his painful existence.

【Photography】

Bergman had little interest in moving the camera, and in this film, the large number of long and still shots added a sense of desolation and solemnity to The Seventh Seal, quite a bit of a medieval moral drama. The black-and-white tones used by cinematographer Genna Fischer make the film even more terrifying. Death's stunning black outfit and bleak background reinforce the film's expressionist vibe, a more or less inclined tendency of Nordic artists.

【Historical Middle Ages】

The depiction of medieval Sweden in the film is not accurate. Knights returning from the Crusaders could not have encountered the Black Death, as the last Crusades ended in 1271, while the Black Death that swept across the continent occurred in 1348. In addition, the ascetic movement was introduced to Sweden from abroad, the mass persecution of shamans took place in the 15th century, and the themes of life and death in the film are more similar to the existential philosophy that prevailed in the 1950s. However, some of the images in the film are derived from medieval art, for example, Bergman once said that the shot of playing chess with the grim reaper is derived from church painting in the 1680s.

[Bergman on the Seventh Seal]

The Seventh Seal becomes a road movie, freely sweeping through time and space, while being fully responsible for such a jump. After I handed the script to Svansk, the reaction from all sides was extremely cold. Then "Smile on a Summer Night" began filming, and was released on Christmas Day 1955, although it was attacked by various open guns and dark arrows, but it was very successful. In May 1956, it was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and won an award, and I went to Mamo to borrow money from Bibi Anderson, who was the richest of our group. Then I flew to Cannes to meet Svansk's boss, Demning, who was busy in his hotel selling the rights to Smile on a Summer Night to any interested charlatan. Such an experience is still a big girl on the palanquin for him - the first time! The only thing that could defeat his complacency was his own naivety. I put the finished Script of the Seventh Seal in front of him and said, "Yes or no, now is your only chance, Karl!" He said, "Yes! But I'll have to take a look first! "You vetoed it all, how come you haven't seen it?" "Really? I guess I didn't read it carefully! "I was forced to promise to finish the film as soon as possible. Deducting the time to and from the location, we only have thirty-six working days, and we also have to tighten the belt on the production fee...

The final scene where Death leads the displaced people to dance away was filmed at HOVS HALLAR. When a storm was coming, we packed our tools and were about to leave. I suddenly saw a strange cloud, and Guna Fischer immediately set up the camera again, but several actors had already returned to our accommodation, and several equipment crew members and tourists were completely confused and joined the dance. The dance of death under the black clouds, which later became very famous, was really just an improvisation that was completed in a matter of minutes. Things are so unpredictable. As a result, we actually finished the movie in thirty-five days.

The Seventh Seal is one of the few films that really captured my heart. What the reason is, I can't say. It's not a perfect work, a little crazy, a little bit stupid, and a little rushed at the same time. But I don't think it's neurotic at all. It is full of vitality and willpower, and can also state its themes with agitated desire and enthusiasm. At that time, I was still suffering from religious problems, sandwiched between two thoughts, and I couldn't go back and forth. Both sides were talking separately, and so my childish piety and harsh rationality were in a state of ceasefire—there had been no neurotic plot between the knight and his holy grail. The film also has a warm sense of family humor. It is the child who makes the miracle: the eighth ball of juggling must remain stationary in the air for a tenth of a second – that breathtaking moment!

In fact, my halogen is quite amazing, what I dared to shoot at the time, now I definitely do not feel shooting. After the knight had finished his morning prayer, he was about to pack his chess pieces when he turned around and saw Death standing there. "Who are you?" The knight asked. "I am the God of Death." At that time, I still harbored the remaining faith of my childhood, and innocently believed that there was a miraculous salvation. But I also convey what I believe now. Each person has his own divinity, but that belongs entirely to this world, and we cannot find a non-secular explanation. In my films, then, there is a remnant, but not neurotic, honest and childlike faith in devotion that coexists with a harsh and realistic attitude.

The Seventh Seal is definitely my last film about faith. This concept was inherited from my father since I was a child. When filming The Seventh Seal, praying for someone or something was the focus of my life. Prayer is the most natural thing for me.

In The Seventh Seal there is a scene that I love and fear, the scene where RAVAL dies behind a large tree in the Black Forest; he buries his head in the soil and howls in fear. I wanted to use a close-up of this scene, but I later found that a little longer distance added to the atmosphere of horror. So when RAVAL died, I deliberately let the camera continue shooting for a long time. Just at this moment, on the mysterious valley like a stage, a tragic white sunlight suddenly appeared. It was a gloomy climate all day, and it happened that at the moment when RAVAL died, the sunlight suddenly appeared as if it were rehearsed in advance.

My fear of death and my religious beliefs are interrelated. Once I had a small surgery and unfortunately got too much anesthetic injection. Suddenly, it was disconnected from reality. Where did the time go? That's a matter of ten thousandths of a second. I suddenly realized: This is death! Originally, I had always thought that the process of transformation from existence to non-existence was incredible. For a man who was constantly afraid of death, that experience was nothing less than a great liberation. However, I also felt a little sad, I thought that after the soul was out of the ordinary experience, but obviously this was not the case. Immediately after existence, there is no existence. This is a reassuring idea. Everything that I thought did not belong to this world was so mysterious and terrible. They don't exist at all. This world is everything, and all truths exist and happen in our lives. And we are constantly shuttling back and forth between each other's lives and influencing each other.

For Sfanske, "The Seventh Seal" suddenly transformed itself into a major masterpiece at the Commemorative Film Festival of the Golden Age of Swedish Cinema. This was not the purpose of making this film in the first place. Poor it was forced to appear at the suffocating premiere party: a gorgeously dressed audience, drums and trumpets, plus Demunin's speech – terrible! I tried my best to prevent such a premiere, but there was nothing I could do. The malice of human boredom mercilessly pollutes everything. After that, the Seventh Seal swept the world with the momentum of the fire. I have received a warm response from all sides. Many people feel that this movie touches the contradictions and pains in their hearts. But I can never forgive its premiere. (Excerpt from "Bergman on Film", Guangxi Normal University Press)

Tidbits

When the filming of Death and his followers departing, some of the actors had already returned home to Song, and Bergman had to use some tourists and technicians as stand-ins.

At 15 minutes into the film, the church that Jens and Brock enter is nothing more than a model hanging in the foreground.

Ganal Lindblom's character has no name, and it's not until near the end of the film that she utters a line: "It's over!" ”

Of all the films Bergman has made, this is one of his favorites.

The seventh seal of the movie's title comes from the biblical book of Revelation.

Great dialogue

Antonius Block: Nothing escapes you!

Death: Nothing escapes me. No one escapes me.

Antonios Aobrok: Nothing can escape your hands!

Death: Nothing can escape my hand, and no one can escape my hand.

Antonius Block: Who are you?

Death: I am Death.

Antonius Block: Have you come for me?

Death: I have long walked by your side.

Antonius Block: So I have noticed.

Death: Are you ready?

Antonius Block: My body is ready, but I am not.

Ancho Donios Brock: Who are you selling?

Death: I am the God of Death.

ANTONIOS BROCK: Are you here for me?

Death: I've been with you for a long time.

ANTONIOS BROCK: I noticed.

Death: Are you ready?

ANTONIOS BROCK: My flesh is ready, but I'm not.

Death: Don't you ever stop asking?

Antonius Block: No. I never stop.

Death: But you're not getting an answer.

Death: Can't you stop asking?

ANTIONIOS BROCK: No, I will never stop.

Death: But you won't get any answers.

Antonius Block: Faith is a torment. It is like loving someone who is out there in the darkness but never appears, no matter how loudly you call.

Antonios Brock: Faith is a torture. Just like someone you love sinks into the darkness and never appears again, no matter how much you shout, it is useless.

Girl: It is finished.

Girl: It's over.

Mia: You don't look so happy.

Antonius Block: No.

Mia: Are you tired?

Antonius Block: Yes. I have boring company.

Mia: You mean your squire?

Antonius Block: No, not him.

Mia: Who do you mean, then?

Antonius Block: Myself.

Mia: You don't look very happy.

Antonios Brock: Yes.

Mia: Are you tired?

ANTONIOS BROCK: I have an annoying partner.

Mia: Is it your attendant?

ANTONIOS BROCK: No, not him.

Mia: So who are you referring to?

Antonio Brock: Myself.

[Death approaches Antonius Block]

Antonius Block: Wait a moment.

Death: You all say that. But I grant no reprieves.

[Death approaches Antonio Brock]

Antonios Brock: Wait a minute.

Death: You always say that, but I don't allow procrastination any longer.

Wear gang shots

In the witch's forest, you can see the windows of the apartment.

During the storm, a group of people entered the Castle of The End, but their clothes were not wet at all.

When Death rearranges the messed-up pieces, the "king" is broken, but in the next shot, the "king" is intact again.

Death claims that he remembers the position of the pieces, but when he rearranges them, it is obviously different from before the board was overturned

Forrest Gump (1994)

Every time I think of Forrest Gump running between the east and west coasts of the United States, I can't help but feel sad and excited. Do you believe in the success of a child with intellectual disabilities? Do you believe that the people who get the most in the world are the ones who don't count the gains and losses? Forrest Gump doesn't understand that he can't always fight with a woman to help her, nor does he understand that an adult shouldn't always have his words on his lips. Forrest Gump didn't know anything, he just knew that he kept running on the road with his intuition, and eventually he ran to the end.

Mom always said that life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what will be in the box.

【Synopsis】

Forrest Gump is an incompetent man with an IQ of only 75. In order to avoid the bullying of other children at school, he began to "run" according to the words of a friend Jenny. He ran to avoid being teased. In middle school, he ran into a school's football field to avoid others, and thus ran into college. Forrest Gump was admitted and became a football superstar, received by President Kennedy.

After graduating from university, Forrest Gump enlisted in the army and went to Vietnam. There, he had two friends: Buba, who was passionate about catching shrimp, and Captain Deng Taylor, the awesome chief. By this time, Jenny had fallen and lived a life of debauchery. Gan has always loved Jenny, but Jenny doesn't love him. After the war, Gan was received by President Johnson as a hero. At a peace rally, Gan meets Jenny again, and the two meet and break up in a hurry. Guided by the creed of "say it and do it", Gan finally broke out of a sky of his own. During his life, he became acquainted with many American celebrities. He denounced the watergate eavesdroppers and came to China as a member of the U.S. table tennis team, giving credit to the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Elvis Presley and John Lennon, two musical superstars, also wrote many popular songs through their associations with him. In the end, Gan became an entrepreneur by catching shrimp. In memory of the dead Buba, he founded the Buba Gan Company and gave half of the company's shares to Buba's mother, who became a gardener herself. Gan has experienced various historical periods of the world's vicissitudes, but no matter when, wherever, and no matter who he is with, he is still the same, simple and kind.

In his seclusion, he often missed Jenny. By this time, Jenny had already gone astray and was in despair. Finally one day, Jenny returned. She and Gan lived together for a while. One night, Jenny threw herself into Forrest Gump's arms and then quietly left at dawn. When he woke up, Ganmuran sat on a bench in front of the door and suddenly began to run. He ran across the United States and became a celebrity again. After running for a long time, Gan stopped and began to return to his hometown. On the way, he receives a letter from Jenny. He saw Jenny again, and a little boy, who was his son. At this time, Jenny had already suffered from an incurable disease. Gan and Jenny returned to their hometown together and spent a happy time together.

Jenny has passed away and their son has reached school age. Gan put his son on the school bus, sat on a bench at the bus stop, and recalled what happened to him in his life.

It can be said that "Forrest Gump" is an authoritative American film.

【Behind-the-scenes production】

The film is based on Winston Groom's novel of the same name. Forrest Gump is a typical American, his body embodies the national character of the United States, and he has also participated in or witnessed major historical events in the United States since the 1950s. Forrest Gump witnessed the Black Civil Rights Movement, went to the front lines of the Vietnam War, witnessed watergate, participated in a table tennis tournament that ushered in a new era of U.S.-China diplomacy; in terms of popular culture, he was a teacher of Elvis Presley's most famous stage moves, inspired John Lennon's most famous songs, and invented the most famous slogan in the United States in the long run. On the surface of the film is Forrest Gump's autobiography, which he tells slowly. What Forrest Gump saw, heard, said and did was not only highly representative, but also a direct illustration of history. This visual metaphor is vividly hinted at in the first shot of the film: a feather flutters, blows across houses and roads, and finally falls at the feet of Forrest Gump, elegant but bland, casual and inevitable. Tom Hanks transformed Forrest Gump from a projection of history into a real, flesh-and-blood man. Forrest Gump is a toddler who occupies the body of an adult, a sage fool, an ordinary person who transcends reality, and a small person who represents the personality of the nation. Quote: Life is like a box of chocolates. The film won the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director and many other awards.

Roman Holiday (1953) Lesson: Love

Roman Holiday (1953)

Maybe "Roman Holiday" is a bit of a blind romantic suspicion, but Audrey. Hepburn's appearance made it really a fairy tale. She is like an angel traveling through the world, beautiful without staining dust. The reporter kissed the wet princess and watched her walk slowly toward her mansion. At that moment, will you silently say in your heart, "Don't go"? In a Roman palace, two men stood so close and so far apart. Joe could only say, "Your friends will never let you down." And the princess could only reply, "Rome, of course, Rome." "In a person's life, even if there is only such a moment of spiritual connection, there will be less but many regrets!

Audrey. Hepburn's blockbuster debut was not only elected as the queen of the Academy Award, but also set off a "Hepburn fever" in the fifties with its elegant temperament, and many girls imitated his hairstyles. In terms of the entertainment effect and artistic value of the film, this film is also a well-received classic. The plot describes the British princess visiting the ancient capital of Rome, treating the red tape festival as a hardship, sneaking into the city at night to enjoy the night, coincidentally meeting a kind American reporter, and the two swim together with their arms, secretly feeling affectionate. But when the British official delegation found out that the princess was missing, they all broke into a cold sweat. In the end, the princess endured the sacrifice of love for her own duty, which was sad. Directed by William. Wyler vividly dissolves into the plot with the famous scenery of Rome, the handsome Gregory. Parker is also very opposed to Audrey Hepburn, and makes a romantic comedy very warm and pleasant.

Braveheart (1995)

Maybe the hero is not an omnipotent god, but the hero must be a fearless warrior. Before you stand on the neon-shimmering street, when you face the vile and trivial smile, you think of the Wallace who makes you ashamed, and then you put away the usual smile on your face and silently turn to Mel. Gibson salutes, never been so solemn. Because he shows us what a true hero is. “Freedom!” Wallace's dying cry ignited your blood. Yang's on-the-spot shooting; the use of three thousand people and two hundred horses in the grand war scene; the long cycle of film shooting, all contributed to the high investment of the film, even twice as much as the budget. Fortunately, after the release of the film, the selling rate was unprecedented, and the box office revenue far exceeded the investment, and finally ended successfully.

In William. Wallace was a child when his father, Scottish hero Marceau. Wallace died in a struggle against the British. At an early age, he studied culture and martial arts under the guidance of his uncle. In order to consolidate his rule in Scotland, King Edward issued a decree allowing the English nobles to enjoy the right to marry maidens in Scotland on the first night of the first night, so that the nobles could be loyal to the royal family. Princess Isabella was a decisive woman who knew that the decree would interest the English nobility in Scotland, but would provoke the scottish people to revolt. The young Wallace returned to his hometown after completing his studies, proposed to the beautiful young girl Melen, and was willing to be a peaceful person. However, Melen was unjustifiably snatched by the British and killed, and Wallace finally broke out. Amid the shouts of the villagers to "after the hero", they rose up and killed the British soldiers to announce the uprising.

The Scottish nobleman Rob wanted to become a Scottish lord, and at the instigation of his father Booth, pretended to ally himself with Wallace. Wallace defeated the attacking British army, and the Scottish Council of Nobles knighted him and appointed him Protector of Scotland. Wallace but found these Scottish nobles to consider. It is only one's own interests, and there is no fear for the future of the people and the country. Edward, in order to defuse the situation, sent Isabella to negotiate peace. But because the British king did not consider the freedom and equality of the people at all, and only wanted to buy Wallace as a condition, the peace talks failed. Isabella returned only to realize that the peace talks were a disguise, and the King of England gathered the Irish army and the French army to encircle Wallace's Scottish army, and she quickly sent a letter to Wallace. Under the pressure of the army, the nobles panicked, Wallace led the army out of the battle, a melee, a short engagement, he accidentally discovered that Rob was colluding with the King, and could not help but be hit hard. Isabella fell for Wallace's pride and came to the station to confide in him her true feelings, and the two reveled in the happiness of love. The King again proposed peace talks. Wallace knew it was a trap, but for the sake of peace, he still agreed to go. In Edinburgh Booth devised a conspiracy to capture Wallace and send him to the King. Rob was furious at his father's ruse, and Wallace was finally sentenced to death. Isabella's intercession failed, and before the King's death, she told the King that she was not pregnant with the blood of a prince, and that the child would soon be the new King.

Wallace's pre-execution chant of "freedom" shocked everyone. A few weeks later, at the time of his canonization, Rob chanted the slogan of avenging Wallace and heroically inheriting Wallace's legacy against the British.

【Appreciation】

The film scene in 1995 was almost completely occupied by Braveheart. Mel Gibson became the biggest winner of the year. "Braveheart" won the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Music, and Best Costume, and swept the world with it. While entertainment films in today's film industry are booming, and technical films blindly pursue pastime, excitement and high box office, "Braveheart" boldly innovates, using a heavy and depressing historical theme, putting the major historical event of the Scottish People's Uprising in the thirteenth century AD on the screen, and winning the title of epic blockbuster for the film with its magnificent momentum. In the film we see the mountains, forests and villages of Scotland, the poignant bagpipes and the poignant cries of resistance of the Scottish people in the pain of poverty, and people feel the real life and history. At the same time, Mel Gibson, in addition to playing the male protagonist, also serves as a director, and he does not ignore people's appreciation in the structure of the film. In the iron-blooded battle of the sword and light sword shadow, the theme of gentle love is entangled, allowing people to experience the iron-blooded tenderness of the hero legend. This has undoubtedly made a bigger market for costume history films. "Braveheart" also did not get rid of the framework of Hollywood technical films, a huge camera crew far away from the field shooting; the use of three thousand people, two hundred horses of the grand war scenes; the long cycle of film shooting, all caused the film to be highly invested, even double the budget. Fortunately, after the release of the film, the selling rate was unprecedented, and the box office revenue far exceeded the investment, and finally ended successfully.

Steven Spielberg shocked the film world's immortal masterpiece, describing a ten-year-old boy and an alien visitor who broke through the gap between time and space and established an innocent friendship. The profound plot has touched the hearts of hundreds of millions of viewers around the world. Through the director's magical skills, the audience will follow the joy and sadness between the two protagonists, or cry or laugh, and in the turn of the plot, experience a perfect friendship, and a wonderful contact that can never be forgotten.

Elliot is a lonely little boy who grew up in a single-parent family in California, and one day he encounters an alien from outer space, and he finds that this funny-looking alien is not only kind-hearted, but also intelligent, so he decides to help the alien he calls "ET", contact his planet, and help him escape the pursuit of scientists and government units, and send it home safely. They embarked on an adventure that even they could not have imagined.

【Behind the scenes】

Filming process - make the unbelievable come true

[ET-Alien] began filming on September 8, 1981, at the Los Angeles Studio and different communities, the Scene in Redwood Forest was filmed in Half Moon City, Northern California, and was expected to take 65 days to shoot, the entire filming process was strictly confidential, and the title of the film was changed to "A Boy's Life". For the director, the first scene was a big challenge, in which Elliot wanted to kiss a little girl, and Spielberg said, "Henry died and he would rather not be a movie star than kiss, and I watched him give up his great future for a kiss scene." Thomas confirmed the director's statement, saying, "All I remember was that my reaction after reading the script was, 'Spaceship, cool.'" Aliens, awesome. Pro-girl? Don't grin! Do I have to kiss girls?!' But in the end he plucked up the courage to finish the kiss scene.

Spielberg and director of photography, Alan Delph, decided to take a natural style first, and when ET came into contact with Eliot and his family, they would shoot in a more fantastical style. Art director James Piso creates a world that blends reality (home life and suburban communities) and fantasy (the opening scene where ET and other aliens come to Earth).

ET was vague at first, and only later let the audience see what he really looked like, and the actors and crew took ET's model as real on the set, which was the biggest achievement for designer Rimbaudti. On set, everyone forgot that he was just a model, because he was really a very real character, this character won everyone's love in the film, so everyone respected him, and more importantly, the three child stars, Henry, Julie and Lauber, believed that this alien was real in the film, so even if they saw the ET model on the set, they still regarded him as real.

The twelve staff responsible for manipulating the model are indispensable to the fact that ET can have such a realistic effect, and they have injected life into et. In order to make ET have natural and smooth movements, the staff not only found a real person to wear a special costume to play ET, but also specially asked the mime actor to wear ET's gloves and shoot the picture of ET taking things. Spielberg particularly admired the mime actor named Capps Ross, who said, "There was a scene where ET ate a watermelon, and when he had a watermelon seed stuck to his mouth, Capper naturally raised his hand and removed the watermelon seed. Most people don't pay attention to this little detail, but this little action of Capps makes ET come alive, and at that moment, he is a living alien, no one is manipulating him, and Kapus seems to have become AN."

In the final scene, where Elliot and his siblings say goodbye to ET, Spielberg says, "Every kid is holding back tears, and when I come back three or four times, they start crying because they know it's the last day of shooting with ET and they'll never see him again." Before ET said to Elliot, "I'm right here," I whispered to Henry, 'This is the last moment for both of you.' He was heartbroken, but he couldn't stop crying, and as soon as I shouted, "Open myra," his tears came out of his eyes."

Create ET

It's one thing to pick human actors, but it's another to design a realistic alien with the technology of the early eighties. Spielberg and production partner Catherine Kennedy immediately set out to recruit the industry's top special effects designers to complete this impossible task. Before that, they had asked the well-known draftsman Edvillo to work with them to design the shape of the ET. Spielberg recalled, "I wanted ET to be special, I didn't want him to look like an alien in another movie, I wanted to design his body to be different from any creature, so that the audience wouldn't think he was an actor in an actor's costume." 」 One of the big challenges was that Spielberg wanted ET to be only three feet tall, with a slender neck and short, fat feet, which ruled out the possibility of asking actors to put on costumes to play him. One of the many designers he approached was Carlo Lampodi, who had designed the first alien in the third type of contact with humans, with a slender body. Spielberg specifically asked him to refer to Edvillo's sketch for ET.

"I remember seeing a lot of books in Stephen's office that he referenced, and he would show me the eyes, mouths, or other features of different creatures, most of which were pictures of old people," Willow recalls. These include photographs of Einstein, Hemingway and others in their old age. Spielberg said, "I like the look in their eyes so much, and I asked Carlo to count the eyes of ET as wise and sad as theirs." So he and Rimbaudy began to cut out the photo of the clutter, pieced together the different parts, and then glued to Einstein or Hemingway's eyes, and finally ET's eyes, with some inspiration from Lampodi's Himalayan cat and a painting called "The Woman of the Delta".

In early January 1981, half a year before filming began, Rimbaudy completed a model of the head of the ET, and Spielberg was satisfied, and when he auditioned for the ET with the V8 camera, he found that the little alien would be better after the lights were turned on. Lampodi and the special effects team and technicians began working on a complete ET in March 1981, and Spielberg wanted the ET's shiny heart to feel like a glowing tail of a firefly, and it took the special effects staff a lot of effort to create a lifelike ET alien.

Twenty years later - the classic blockbuster is reintroduced

Film film is easily damaged, twenty years of age has indeed caused some damage to [ET-Alien], and the progress of digital technology today not only allows Steven Spiel to repair his work, but also allows him to make up for the shortcomings that existed due to the immaturity of technology at that time, making this classic work more perfect.

Spielberg again enlisted the ILM special effects team to help, and Bill George of ILM said: "[ET] is like a long-unmodified building, we have to renovate the floor, repaint the walls, and make it as good as possible. We don't want to change the movie, we just want it to look perfect."

Spielberg didn't want to change the plot, so he just wanted to use advanced special effects to fix some of the imperfections in the film. George also said: "If we were to shoot [ET] now, we would definitely use computer animation to create ET, an alien, but there was no computer animation at that time, so although ET's model was very well done, he still had some restrictions, but these restrictions also made it seem more natural and more human, so we didn't want to change its personality and action, we only had some places to make him look more vivid and natural than before." 」

The biggest change That Spielberg made for the twentieth anniversary edition was the regret he had been grumbling for years, which was to take the gun out of the hands of the government cadres who hunted down ET, and he said in a 1995 interview: "If I want to re-launch this movie, I must take that shot off, I have two regrets about this movie, I regret letting them chase children with guns, I really regret having guns in this movie." 」 So I'll use computer animation to remove the gun from the policeman's hand." Although swapping the gun in the hands of the police for a walkie-talkie would surely provoke protests from some die-hard fans, he felt that he had some kind of responsibility to young fans. Another change is that Elliot's mother originally forbade him to act like a "terrorist" on Halloween in the film, but now the word has been changed to a less violent "hippie".
