Digital Insight Games, a U.S. meta-universe game developer, recently announced the completion of a $7.5 million funding round led by Hivemind Capital and Griffin Gaming Partners, with the participation of The Hunt Technology Ventures, RSE Ventures and Signum Growth Investments. The proceeds will be used to develop original metaverse games based on Web 3 and blockchain technology.
It is understood that Digital Insight Games was co-founded by Jon Van Caneghem, the developer of "Heroes of Might and Magic", and Jack Sheng, a former executive of Tencent, and is headquartered in Los Angeles, USA. The company aims to leverage blockchain and NFT technology to create a user-friendly technology platform for the in-game digital economy that offers free games.
Currently, Digital Insight Games is pioneering the Game as a Service (GaaS) 2.0 roadmap, which aims to become an industry leader in free-to-play 2.0, GaaS/live services 2.0, online marketplaces, and NFT/blockchain games.
Van Caneghem said they want to be a pioneer in Web 3 and blockchain technology for fun and original games. "As the real-world economy merges with the in-game digital economy, gaming companies' business models will change significantly in the coming years, and Digital Insight Games is focused on building the basic/intrinsic value of the game economy with the aim of creating a new Web 3 gaming experience."
