Coincidentally, at this time, the superiors also sent a telegram, asking Wang Shusheng's column to stop advancing westward and carry out the creation of a base area in northwest Hubei on the spot. After receiving the order from the head of the column, Wang Dinglie,4th Regiment Commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 1st Column (Colonel in 1955), ordered all mortars and heavy machine guns to be buried, and the excess personnel of the organs were organized into combat companies, and the excess cadres were formed into a reconnaissance team. After a series of measures were taken, the burden on the troops was reduced, the combat strength of the company was enriched, and the conditions were created for flexible guerrilla struggle afterwards.
On August 27, the Northwest Hubei Military Region, with Wang Shusheng as commander and Liu Zijiu as political commissar, was formally established, with four military sub-districts under its jurisdiction. Wang Dinglie commanded the 4 regiments, with Oujiadian as the axis, and engaged in cat-and-mouse maneuvers with the enemy with superior troops. On September 22, the 4th Regiment was transferred to the area of the Inspection and Inspection Department, taking advantage of the favorable conditions under which the enemy was concentrating its forces to attack the Base Area of Wudang Mountain, and established the Jingdangyuan Headquarters in the local area to carry out the work of raising grain and raising funds on the spot and attacking the enemy's local armed forces.
Due to the desolation and remoteness of the mountainous areas of northwest Hubei, the poverty of products, and the fact that the enemy's strength is several times that of our army, it is very difficult to establish a base area in northwest Hubei. In January 1947, under the heavy encirclement and suppression of the enemy, the Fourth Military Sub-district in the Wudang Mountains was forced to withdraw, and Liu Zihou, political commissar of the military region (who had served as the secretary of Hebei after liberation), led two companies of the military region's guard regiment and Yang Hongxian's detachment to meet Wang Dinglie, while Chiang Kai-shek's army chased after wang Dinglie like a tail.

While laughing, the sound of "banging" guns from the outer cordons engaged with the enemy was heard, and the 3rd Company of the 4th Regiment quickly climbed to the commanding heights of the right wing and drove down the Chiang Kai-shek army, which was also trying to seize the commanding heights.
Unfortunately, due to the early firing of the 3 companies, most of the enemy fled in this battle, leaving only one prisoner. The captives saw Wang Dinglie busy begging for forgiveness: "The little ones do not dare to make enemies with your army, but they are forced to chase after them because of Shangfeng's orders!" No, they sent me a hundred bullets, and I didn't shoot a single shot, so I gave you all my filial piety! Wang Dinglie's performance surprised Wang Dinglie, and he began to realize that blindly passively avoiding battle would only encourage the arrogance of the enemy. As long as our army dares to fight, it can crush the enemy.
After interrogation, Wang Dinglie learned that this group of enemies who had come from afar was a reinforced battalion of the 45th Regiment of the 16th Brigade of the Entire 72nd Division of the Chiang Kai-shek Army, and the battalion commander was named Ye Dongliang, with a total strength of only more than 400 troops.
"Good you Ye Dongliang!" Wang Dinglie thought to himself, "A mere 400 people dare to pursue our army far away from the main force, and it seems that they do not know the news of our regiment's activities here." Since you are so rampant, I must annihilate you!" ”

The next day, Wang Dinglie transferred his troops to Laoguanwo in Nanshan, intending to use the terrain to fight an ambush battle, but waited left and right, but did not see the enemy coming. Finally, by inquiring about yamashita's compatriots, he learned that the cunning Ye Dongliang knew that he did not have enough troops in his hands, so he had already transferred first, and another squadron of security units stationed in Anyuan was transferred to help in the battle. Receiving this information, Wang Dinglie immediately led the whole regiment to take the initiative to attack, annihilated the security squadron, and captured more than 30,000 rounds of ammunition and captured more than 80 people.
According to documents captured from the security squadron, Ye Dongliang was contacting the surrounding and follow-up troops and intended to encircle the 4th Regiment, so Wang Dinglie decisively ordered the troops to jump out of the enemy encirclement and move to the area north of Dangyang, which was located behind the enemy. Coincidentally, when the 4th Regiment was transferred to Hengdianzi in the northeast of Danyang, it was encountering Ye Dongliang's camp with large and small luggage and was also making a long-distance transfer, which could be described as a narrow road, and Wang Dinglie immediately ordered the whole regiment to attack immediately.
Just as the so-called narrow road met the brave one to win, the commanders and fighters of the 4th Regiment immediately rushed down the mountain like a fierce tiger and pounced on the sheep, and hit Ye Dongliang's battalion by surprise. After only half an hour of fierce fighting, the 4th Regiment annihilated all the enemy at a very slight cost, killing and wounding more than 300 enemy prisoners in this battle, capturing more than 300 rifles, 3 heavy machine guns, 1 mortar and more than 60,000 rounds of ammunition, only the cunning Ye Dongliang hurried into the woods and was slipped away by him.
While interrogating Chiang Kai-shek's prisoners, one of the diminutive machine gunners suddenly stood up and said to Wang Dinglie in a slightly stiff accent: "Hello Chief, my name is Fujing, my Chinese name is Li Ming, and I am a Japanese." ”

According to Tomii, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, when he was a high school student, he was forcibly recruited by the Japanese army to fight in China. During the battle against the guerrillas of the New Fourth Army, he read a lot of captured materials of the New Fourth Army and was gradually impressed. Therefore, when the invading Japanese army announced its unconditional surrender, Tomii had an idea in his mind, that is, he wanted to stay and join the New Fourth Army to atone for his actions in the War of Resistance.
However, because the troops who came to receive Chiang Kai-shek's troops at the time of surrender were all those who were unfamiliar with the land, Fujing, who was not familiar with the land, could not find the guerrillas of the New Fourth Army for a while and a half, so he decided to temporarily join Chiang Kai-shek's army as a volunteer, and when Chiang Kai-shek's army fought against the New Fourth Army, he would find an opportunity to defect to the past, so there was a scene described above.
Wang Dinglie was very touched after hearing this, patted Fujing's shoulder and said: "Comrade Li Ming, thank you for your support for the cause of liberation, but for you the war is over, you should go back to China early to reunite with the second elder!" ”

After joining our army, Tomii was arranged to work as a machine gun shooter in the 3rd Company, he worked seriously, fought bravely, and wrote a good Hand in Chinese characters, often helped the propaganda team to write slogans, and was quickly recognized by the commanders and fighters and became the leader of the machine gun squad. Later, Fujing participated in the battle of Advancing into Dabie Mountain with Liu Deng's army, and finally died in the Battle of Gaoshanpu in October 1947! Due to the limited communication conditions at that time, Tomii's family in Japan never knew the news of his death in Dabie Mountain, but Wang Dinglie never forgot this Japanese soldier who died for the cause of China's liberation.
