According to the announcement issued by the Klang Port Authority on the 5th, the fire distributed at 4:15 p.m. on the 4th was born in the block 07J Bay 0506 container area of Klang West Port, burning a total of 22 containers; another 38 containers were affected and damaged. These containers are "general cargo", i.e. dry general purpose, and do not involve any dangerous goods. "Apart from the fire area being sealed off for investigation, unloading machinery in the port has not been affected, and all loading and unloading is now proceeding as usual."
Selangor Fire Chief Noah Zhan said earlier that the initial fire was caused by eight containers, divided into two rows overlapping and juxtaposed, and the Westport authorities managed to remove the rest of the containers from being affected.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the cargo inside the fireped containers included auto parts, audio equipment, cotton fabrics, baby walkers, lubricants, lines and roof mounting systems.
