Founder of China Civil Engineering Society
Zhan Tianyou
In 1912, in order to develop China's engineering career faster, Zhan Tianyou founded the Chinese Engineers Association in Guangzhou. Subsequently, Yan Deqing and Wu Jian founded the Chinese Society of Technology in Shanghai; Xu Wenjiong and others initiated the Road Workers' Freemasonry association in Shanghai. These three groups are all for the development of engineering technology and service for national construction, so it was decided that the three associations would merge to form a new association, named the Chinese Engineers Association - the predecessor of the Chinese Civil Engineering Society, which is the first engineering academic group in the mainland with civil engineers as the main body.
In order to highlight the characteristics of academic organizations, the Chinese Engineers Association was renamed the Chinese Society of Engineers, and Zhan Tianyou was the president. Under his leadership, the Society founded the "Chinese Engineers Association Newspaper", and he personally subscribed to the regulations on essays and personally donated to run the journal for 5 years. In order to unify the terminology of engineering, he also led the compilation of the "Huaying Engineering Dictionary".

One of the founders of the Geographical Society of China
Zhang Xiangwen
In 1909, in order to promote the development of new geography, a group of progressive geographers in northern China led by Zhang Xiangwen established China's first geological society, the Chinese Geological Society (the predecessor of the Chinese Geographical Society), in line with patriotic purposes, and Zhang Xiangwen was elected as the president.
Under the auspices of Zhang Xiangwen, the Geological Society of China has carried out a large number of activities, including: holding academic lectures from time to time; organizing members to conduct field visits; and founding and publishing the Journal of Geoscience. The Journal of Geoscience is the first geographical academic journal in China, publishing a number of articles and geographical investigation reports with the embryonic nature of modern geography, breaking through the old tradition of ancient geography that simply describes geographical phenomena.
Until Zhang Xiangwen's death in 1933, the Geological Society of China has been the core force promoting the development of Chinese geography and even earth science.

Zhang Hongzhao
As early as 1912, Zhang Hongzhao called for the establishment of a geological society, but it was difficult to get a response in the context of the time. On January 27, 1922, 26 Chinese and foreign geologists gathered in the library of the Beijing Geological Survey Institute, at which Zhang Hongzhao proposed the establishment of a geological society, which was approved by everyone. On February 3, the Geological Society of China was officially established, with Zhang Hongzhao as the first president.
During his tenure, Zhang Hongzhao vigorously led and promoted the construction of the Society, founded the first academic journal of geology in mainland China, the Journal of the Geological Society of China, and personally wrote, reviewed and compiled it, making important contributions to the development of the Society.

Yan Fuqing
In 1915, in order to solve the problems faced in the development of Chinese medicine, Yan Fuqing, Wu Liande and other Chinese medical workers initiated the establishment of the Chinese Medical Association, and Yan Fuqing was elected as the president.
In November of the same year, Yan Fuqing published the "Declaration of the Chinese Medical Association" in the inaugural issue of the Chinese Medical Journal, proposing that the purpose of the society is to consolidate the friendship between doctors, respect the right of medical ethics, popularize medicine and health, and contact the Chinese medical community.
In February 1916, the first general assembly of the Chinese Medical Association was opened, and Yan Fuqing delivered a welcome speech as the chairman. He proposed to establish the qualifications of members, set up a fixed clubhouse, do a good job of popularizing medical knowledge, and translate medical books.
In addition, relying on the Chinese Medical Association Conference, Yan Fuqing also put forward initiatives such as establishing high-level medical schools in the southeast region and striving for compensation for The British Gengzi, which expanded the influence of the society.

Zhao Yanhuang
In 1907, Zhao Yihuang, Wang Huanwen, Wu Sheng and other students studying in Japan initiated the establishment of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association (the predecessor of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association) to "unite pharmacists, seek academic progress together, and promote the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the motherland". This is the first academic community in the history of modern pharmaceutical science and technology in mainland China.
In 1909, the first annual meeting of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association was held, and Wang Huanwen was elected as the president, Wu Sheng as the director general, and Zhao Yihuang as the secretary.
In 1910, Zhao Xiaohuang joined the League, and the following year, when the Xinhai Revolution broke out, he returned to China with the Red Cross Society of medical students studying in Japan to serve the rebel army, which was the first time that the members of the society organized to serve the motherland.
Zhao Xiaohuang actively participated in the academic activities organized by the society, and made two reports at the academic report meeting organized by the society, "Analytical Chemistry of Domestic Flax Oil" and "Research on the Crystalline Composition of Chuanhoupu Volatile Oil".

Wu Zheying
In 1919, Wu Zheying returned from studying in the United States, and successively served as the chief nurse of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the chief nurse of the General Hospital of the Red Cross Society of China, and founded the first nursing school run by the Chinese people in Shanghai, the "Nursing School of the General Hospital of the Red Cross Society of China".
In 1928, Wu Zheying was elected as the president of the ninth council of the Chinese Nurses Association (the predecessor of the Chinese Nursing Association), becoming the first Chinese president of the society, ending the nearly 20-year history of foreign nurses as presidents. During his tenure, Wu Zheying vigorously advocated the humanization of nursing work. In order to facilitate communication with patients, she actively advocated the promotion of Mandarin and learning English in nursing schools, and cultivated a group of practical talents for the cause of nursing in China.

Chen Rong
In 1916, Chen Rong, together with Wang Shuncheng and others, initiated the proposal to establish the Chinese Agricultural Society, which was echoed by many young and middle-aged agronomists, and in 1917, the Chinese Agricultural Society (the predecessor of the Chinese Agricultural Society) was formally established, Chen Rong was elected as the first president, and the constitution of the society was drafted.
In 1918, Chen Rong and others initiated the compilation and printing of the Journal of the Chinese Agricultural Society, and served as an editor and contributor at the same time. In addition, he also served as the director of the Fund Custody Committee of the Chinese Agricultural Society, so that the society could not make ends meet the accumulation of more than 200,000 to 300,000 yuan of funds, creating favorable conditions for the development of the conference.

Ling Daoyang
In 1917, Ling Daoyang, who returned from studying in the United States, deeply felt that the revitalization of forestry was a top priority in China, and in line with the purpose of "gathering comrades and jointly seeking the development of China's forestry scholarship and career", a number of forestry pioneers established the Chinese Forestry Association in Shanghai. Later, due to the turmoil of the current situation, the Chinese Forestry Association was reorganized.
In 1928, the Chinese Forestry Society changed its name to the Chinese Forestry Society (the predecessor of the Chinese Forestry Society), and Ling Daoyang was re-elected as the second, third and fourth president of the Society from 1929 to 1941.

In 1921, Southeast University and Nanjing Higher Normal School jointly held a summer education seminar, and Zhang Yaoxiang, who taught at Nanjing Higher Normal School and was widely praised by students, became one of the main lecturers of the association. After the end of the seminar, the students signed and initiated the establishment of the "Chinese Psychological Association", and after obtaining the consent of several psychology professors, the Chinese Psychological Association was formally established, with Zhang Yaoxiang as the president.
At the beginning of the establishment of the Society, the propaganda and publication of psychology was one of the key tasks. In 1922, Psychology, China's first journal of psychology magazines, edited by Zhang Yaoxiang, was published. As the editor-in-chief, Zhang Yaoxiang has a rigorous and open concept of running the journal, so the journal is deeply liked by readers and republished.
He is the first chairman of the Chinese Anatomical Society
Lu Yudao
In 1920, the Chinese Anatomical Society and the Anthropological Society were formally established in the Anatomy Laboratory of Peking Union Medical College, becoming one of the earliest professional academic societies established in China.
However, due to the warlords and warlords at that time, the people did not have a good life, and it was difficult to carry out the meetings and activities of the society, and the work of the society was stagnant for a while. In 1943, Lu Yudao, then head of the Biology Department at Fudan University, and others discussed the anatomy society, but for many reasons, it could not be realized. It was not until 1947 that the Preparatory Committee of the Chinese Anatomical Society was reconstituted, and a new council was elected at the meeting, with Lu Yudao as the chairman. Since then, under the leadership of Lu Yudao, the Chinese Anatomical Society has begun to move forward.
