Landslides, commonly known as "ground slip" and "mountain walking", are geological disasters in which the rock and soil on the slope are caused by natural factors or human activities, and slide down the slope as a whole or in dispersion under the action of gravity. The main triggers are earthquakes, rainfall, river erosion of the foot of the mountain, and human excavation of the foot of the mountain, slope stacking, blasting, mining and other activities.
What are the signs of a landslide?
1． At the foot of the slope at the front edge of the landslide, abnormal phenomena such as the sudden resurrection of dry spring water, or the sudden drying and turbidity of the spring water, and the sudden change of well water level are important precursors to landslides.
2． The occurrence of lateral and longitudinal radially arranged cracks on the hillside indicates that the landslide body is pushed forward and hindered, and has entered a state of near-slip.
3． At the foot of the hillside, the soil suddenly appears to be uplifted, which is a phenomenon in which the landslide body is obviously pushed forward.
4． Cracks appear in the floor and walls of houses built on hillsides, the walls are crooked, and the rock mass around the landslide body is slightly collapsed and relaxed. The horizontal displacement or vertical displacement of the landslide body will have a tendency to accelerate and change, which is a clear sign of slippage. The cracks in the trailing edge of the landslide expand sharply and hot or cold air bubbles up from the cracks.
What to do if you encounter a landslide
1． If it is too late to move when encountering a landslide, it should be evacuated to the stable area on both sides as soon as possible. Running above or below the landslide body is dangerous.
2． When you are in the middle of the landslide body and cannot be evacuated, you can find an open area with a gentle slope to stay, but you must not get too close to the house, fence, telephone pole, etc. When it is not possible to continue evacuating, you should quickly hold on to fixed objects such as trees around you.
3． Hide under strong obstacles, take care to protect your head, and wrap your head with clothing.
Emergency considerations
1． When on a landslide, you should remain calm and not panic, so as not to waste time and make wrong decisions.
2． Do not return to the area where the landslide occurred before the landslide hazard period has passed, so as not to encounter danger if the landslide occurs again.
3． When you determine that you are in a safe area, you should report the disaster to the relevant departments as soon as possible.

Mudslide is a special torrent of sediment, stone and boulders caused by heavy rain and ice and snow melting on mountain valleys or slopes, often accompanied by flash floods, which are extremely damaging to houses, farmland, roads, bridges, etc.
What are the signs of a mudslide?
1． The river is abnormal. If the normal flow of water in the riverbed or ditch suddenly stops flowing or the flood suddenly increases, and there are more firewood and trees, it means that mudslides have formed in the upper reaches of the riverbed and ditch.
2． Abnormal noise. If you hear rustling on the mountain, but you can't find the source of the sound, it may be the sound of loose sand and rock flowing, which is a sign that a mudslide is about to occur. If there is a roaring sound or a slight vibration sensation in a ravine or deep valley, a mudslide is forming and it is necessary to leave the dangerous area quickly.
3． Mountain anomalies. There are many white water flows on the mountain, and the slope is deformed, bulging, cracked, and even the objects on the slope are tilted.
4． Other anomalies: water begins to accumulate in the long-arid land, roads crack, public telephone booths, trees, fences, etc. suddenly tilt, the rain does not stop, or the water level of the stream drops sharply when the rain has just stopped.
What should I do if I encounter a mudslide?
1． Discard heavy objects immediately and escape as soon as possible.
2． Quickly run to the sides (laterally) in the direction of the vertical mudslide roll. If a mudslide rolls from north to south, it will run to the east and west. If you are at the bottom of the ditch, do not run upstream or downstream in the direction of the ditch, let alone stay at the slope.
3． Don't go up trees to hide, don't stay in low depressions with thicker soil layers on steep slopes, or hide behind rolling stones and rock piles.
4． After the rainstorm has stopped, do not rush back to the valley settlement, you should wait for a while.
