Mengjiaji, because of the rolling river shipping and prosperity
Mengji Village, also known as Mengjiaji and Hunjiaji, was founded in Mingwei. It is bordered by Hanji to the east, Mengzhuang to the north, Zhangzui to the west, and Dongjin Qili Bay to the south. During the Republic of China period, it was the eleventh fort of Liangzui Township in Xiangyang. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Mengji Brigade was established, and before 1984 the village was under the jurisdiction of Shuanggou District, and then under the jurisdiction of Zhangjiaji Town.

In order to protect the safety of residents and the prosperity of the market, during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the ancestors of the Meng family built a wall around the village and dug up the Zhai River, and there were four gates on the wall, east, west, south, north, Taishan Temple, East Yangsi Temple, Meng Ancestral Hall, Mengjia Ancient Well, and 300-hundred-year-old Locust Huchun and Guzhai River in the old street, and the ruins still exist today.

In 1958, when the land was leveled, the Tombstone of the Meng Mu Duan Clan was excavated from a tomb in the cemetery of the Meng family in Mengjia Lane, Hougang Village, Dongjin Town, which was about 0.60 meters long, about 0.50 cm wide and about 0.15 cm thick. The inscription was written by Zheng Jizhi, a high-ranking official of the Ming Dynasty, Xiangyang. The inscription can be seen on the stele: "Xiangjun City South River East, guyuan Gangshi Meng surname, is the tang Meng Haoran ancestors of the descendants also" and "Yu Chenzili, taste Haoran Gong and inherent in its zhi" and so on. It is confirmed that Meng Jia Lane is Meng Haoran's hometown. The mengmu Duan clan epitaph is now in the home of a resident surnamed Meng in the second group of Hougang Village in Dongjin Town.

"In the past, the old people here were all moved from Mengjia Lane in Dongjinyuan, and it was Meng Hao and then people, but at that time, the evidence was insufficient." Meng Fuqian, secretary of the party branch of Mengji Village, and his brother Meng Xiaoyong introduced that the ancient stele on the Mengji Stone Bridge records that MengJi Meng, the ancestor of mengji meng, was the ancestor of mengying dynasty. Later, an ancient stele erected by the three brothers of the Meng Ying Dynasty to their parents was unearthed in Mengjia Lane, Dongjin Town, confirming the Meng Ying Dynasty, the ancestor of the Meng surname.
Because the time of erection of the monument is not clear, it is impossible to determine the time of erection of the monument, nor can it be inferred from when the ancestor of the Meng surname was relocated from Mengjia Lane to Mengji, Meng Xiaoyong introduced, they consulted experts to verify, the costumes of the characters on the monument of the meng surname are Ming Dynasty, thus determining that the ancestors of mengji were relocated in the Ming Dynasty.

Legend has it that a Henan shipper went to the Mengjiaji pier to go ashore to eat and watch the drama until midnight, slept for a while and sailed the boat to Zaoyang, Tianma Maliang was hungry, saw a dock and went ashore to eat, asked the boss where this was, the boss said it was Mengjiaji, the shipper exclaimed: "This Mengjiaji is also too good, walked all night and did not go out!" "In fact, mengji is only a few hundred meters away from the upper pier and the lower pier. The rolling river flows from east to west, and the boat is retrograde and slow, coupled with the early rise of the ship's sleep.

There are Yangsi temples all over the country, some say Yangsi folk Taoist water gods, and some say that Yangsi is the ancestor of shipwrights. There is also a Yangsi Temple in Mengji Village, the local legend is that Yang Si is a military general, the old home is Zaoyang, after his death, the body will be transported back to Zaoyang, the boat walked to the Mengjiaji dock when suddenly could not move, so stopped in mengjiaji to rest for a night, the next day in the boat is very smooth, the local people think that Yang Si appeared to be a spirit, so they raised funds to build the Yangsi Temple. However, some people believe that Yangsi Temple is dedicated to the river god and the boat gang hall, one is to pray for peace, and the other is to serve as a place for deliberation and meeting and rest.

Mengji once had a Confucian Taoist Temple in one taishan temple, legend is built in the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming and Qing Dynasties repeatedly repaired, the scale of three into two courtyards quadrangle, the gate on both sides of the large murals, the courtyard has 2 large cypress trees, later converted into a school, only demolished in the 1990s. Legend has it that Miss Jinhua once lived in the Taishan Temple, and washed her feet in the ditch next to her, and her fingernails turned into a snail shell, and people were injured, so it was good to grind the snail shell into powder.
