The closing ceremony of the 9th Vancouver Chinese Film Festival and the award ceremony of the "Red Maple Leaf Award" were held in Vancouver on August 14, Beijing time. Written by Wang Hong, directed by Pu Jian, and starring Zhao Liang, Guan Dehui and Ge Weixi, the film "Mazu Homecoming" stood out and won the three most important awards of "Best Film", "Best Director" and "Best Actor".
The movie "Mazu Homecoming" is adapted from the novella "Letter from Taipei" by the famous Fujian writer Wang Hong, the plot is based on Fujian and Taiwan, closely following the theme of "going home", the film tells about the two ordinary people crossing the sea that occurred between the Taiwan Strait, interprets the inseparable blood and love between the people on both sides of the strait and the great charm of Mazu culture, reflects the historical changes between the two sides of the strait from isolation to exchanges and exchanges, from hostility to peaceful development, and is known as a "civilian epic" with both individual perspective and historical vision.
The Vancouver International Chinese Film Festival is one of the five largest film festivals in North America, and the third international Chinese film festival after the London Chinese Film Festival in the United Kingdom and the Golden Koala Chinese Film Festival in Australia.
