Yesterday (March 17) at 5:15 p.m., a fire broke out in an apartment in the "Diamond Double Star" building on Diamond Island in the Basak Sub-district of Phnom Penh City's SangYuan District, resulting in more than 30 people being trapped and 3 injured.

It is reported that the owner of the apartment where the fire occurred is named Dabora Pich, female, 42 years old.

It is understood that before the incident, someone saw smoke coming out of the apartment building, but did not know how many floors. At that time, they immediately reported to the local police for help.

According to local police, more than 30 people were trapped on the 32nd floor, of which 3 were injured, including 2 small children and 1 woman. At the same time, the meters on the 15th to 31st floors were burned down, so the cause of the fire was suspected to be a short circuit in the wires. The police added that because the apartment building was too high, it was impossible to put out the fire in time, and the firefighters had to use respirators to climb upstairs and enter the apartment room to rescue the victims.

Eventually, firefighters took full control of the fire at 7 p.m. that day.
