On March 17, Commerce Department spokesman Gao Feng said that the US action is the same as other Chinese telecommunications companies, the United States generalized the concept of national security, abused state power, and maliciously suppressed Chinese companies in the absence of factual basis. It not only violates the principle of fair competition, but also violates the universally recognized international economic and trade rules, disrupts the normal market order, and harms the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and all consumers. China strongly condemns and firmly opposes this.
Gao Feng also said that the United States should immediately stop its unreasonable suppression of Chinese enterprises, stop the wrong practice of politicizing the trade issue, and create a fair and stable market environment for enterprises from all countries in the United States. China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
This is not the first time the United States has done such a thing. In October last year, China Telecom Americas was also banned by the United States and revoked its authorization to operate in the United States, citing the old "national security considerations", and the Federal Communications Commission believed that China Telecom may be "used and controlled" by the Chinese government, which will pose a "significant risk" to the "national security and law enforcement" of the United States. Before the U.S. ban was issued, China Telecom had been authorized for nearly 20 years to provide telecommunications services to U.S. consumers, and after the ban was issued, the United States required China Telecom to stop service within 60 days and withdraw from the United States.
Within a few months, the United States was once again attacking Chinese communications companies. Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press conference on March 17 that the United States, without presenting enough evidence, has once again revoked the operating licenses of Chinese enterprises in the United States on trumped-up charges, which is a naked generalization of the concept of national security and a serious violation of international economic and trade rules.
In addition to targeting Chinese telecommunications companies, the United States is also chasing and blocking Chinese enterprises in many other areas, and soon after the end of the high-level meeting between China and the United States, the United States seized the goods of the Chinese clothing brand Li Ning under the pretext of "illegal labor" and required Li Ning to prepare evidence for itself within 30 days, otherwise the goods would be directly confiscated. The United States, with just one mouth, wants Chinese companies to prove their innocence, which is obviously a crackdown on Chinese garment companies, and even revenge for Li Ning's support for the use of Xinjiang cotton.
After the Biden administration took office, it still followed Trump's set of "sanctions" as a weapon against Chinese companies, and last month, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security issued a statement placing 33 Chinese entities on the "unverified list", most of which are electronics companies and optical companies, and even university laboratories are among them. Entities included in the list are reportedly subject to stricter export controls.
The tricks used by the US government against China, in fact, have been used almost in the Trump period, the United States in the past two years after the epidemic, the economic situation is not as good as before, in order to resist the economic recession caused by the epidemic, the United States has issued a large number of dollars, the crisis passed on to other countries, not only overdrafted the credibility of the United States, but also caused more serious inflation.
