SMIC announced that the company's acting chairman, Gao Yonggang, has been appointed as the chairman of the company, effective March 17, 2022. At the same time, SMIC also announced that Dr. Zhou Zixue has resigned as an executive director of the Company due to health reasons, effective March 17, 2022. In addition to being chairman, Gao Yonggang now serves as an executive director and chief financial officer, and also serves as a director or chairman of several subsidiaries and participating companies. Gao Yonggang, Aged 57, was appointed acting chairman of the Company on 3 September 2021, a non-executive director of the Company in 2009, an executive Director on 17 June 2013 and a Chief Financial Officer of the Company since 17 February 2014.

Honor CEO Zhao Ming said in an interview with the media that Honor will not build cars and will not enter the automotive field in the next few visible years.
