This is not the main content of the works of Spanish painters. Pablo Picasso cleverly combined unusual materials such as metal, stone, plaster, charcoal, pencil or oil painting on canvas. Picasso – a genius of modern art
On October 25, 1881, in the small Spanish city of Málaga, a baby was born. Childbirth was difficult and newborn boys could not breathe. Cigarette smoke was blown into his nose to open his lungs. Thus began the life of Pablo Picasso, the world's youngest "smoker" and the greatest artist of the 19th century.
Unusual talent begins to manifest at a very young age. His first word was "pencil," and he learned to draw before he could speak.
Pablo was a spoiled child. Parents pamper their only, and very beautiful son. He hated going to school and often refused to go there until his father allowed him to take a tame pigeon from the loft.
In addition to pigeons, he also loves art. When Pablo was ten years old, his father often took him to college, where he worked as an art teacher. He could spend hours watching how his father drew and sometimes even helped him. One day, Pablo's father was painting pigeons and left the room for a little while. When he returned, he saw that Pablo had finished the painting. She was so beautiful and vibrant that he gave his son his palette and brush and never painted again. Pablo was only thirteen years old at the time, but had already surpassed his teacher.
Since then, paints and brushes have been Pablo's life. Obviously, he was a genius. However, to the disappointment of many, his art is not classical. He always broke the rules and norms of traditional art and was struck by his peculiar but vibrant paintings. He is known for his paintings in the "Cubist" style - painting using simple geometric shapes. For example, he depicts figures with triangles and squares, drawing certain parts of the body and facial features where they should be.
His work has changed the way people think about contemporary art. Now it is associated with the name Pablo Picasso. One of the masterpieces of modern art is his painting Guernica, written in 1937, in which the artist captures the bombing of a small town during the Spanish Civil War.
In total, Picasso created more than 6,000 paintings, drawings and sculptures. Today, his work is worth millions of dollars. Once, when a French minister visited Picasso, the painter accidentally spilled paint on his pants. Pablo apologized and offered to pay for the cleaning of his trousers, but the minister said: "No! You just signed my pants! ”
In 1973, Pablo Picasso died of heart failure after suffering from influenza.
Pablo Picasso: An Artist of All Ages
To date, Pablo Picasso is rightfully considered one of the most expensive artists, based on the results of modern auctions. The extraordinary Spanish artist created his first work in the early 20th century, and in total he has tens of thousands of paintings and sculptures. He does not "cling" to any one style, but looks for ways and types of self-expression in different artistic directions. It is impossible to judge Picasso's work with one or two works: he transforms the rich inner world into a language of color, each painting different from the previous one. The impressive nearly century-old history of his work is usually divided into many periods:
Early on, when there was a brush test, looking for emotions and daring experiments. At this time, he lived in Barcelona, then went to Madrid to study art, and later - back to Barcelona.
"Blue" period. Moving to Paris and meeting impressionist painters, he contributed greatly to the formation and cutting of Spanish talents. In his paintings from 1900 to 1903, he immortalized the various forms of sadness, sadness, and melancholy.
The "Pink" period is marked by new roles in his masterpieces: artist, circus performer. The Pushkin Museum's "The Girl at the Ball" also belongs to this period. The sad atmosphere in Pablo's work is diluted by a more relaxed and romantic mood.
The "Africa" period was the first precursor to the author's transition to Cubism.
cubism. Picasso began meticulously breaking down everything he depicted in his paintings into geometric shapes large and small. Portraits painted with this technique look particularly interesting and innovative.
Classical period. Familiarity with the Ballet Russo and his first wife, the ballet dancer, rethinked Picasso's work, and in the early 1920s he turned to artistic principles, creating paintings that were very different from his usual Cubism. One of his earliest works in the classical style was the "Portrait of Olga in an Armchair", in which an artist in love captured his wife.
surrealism. Since 1925, the author has been experiencing great creative experiences, which can be seen in his paintings – the figure is an unreal monster, the artist challenges, flirts with the audience's imagination, and turns to surrealism. One of the most famous surrealist paintings is Dream (1932).
With the civil war that swept through Spain and throughout Europe, military themes entered his creative life. Along with the gloomy social context, the atmosphere of the artist's life is also influenced by new personal experiences: a new woman appears in his life.
After the war, he created the world-famous "Dove of Peace" and became a member of the Communist Party. His artistic activities of this period reflect his happy years of life. During this time, he became actively aware that he was also a potter.
From the 50s onwards, it was difficult to attribute his paintings to one genre and style – he realized everything left behind in different ways and techniques. He also interprets famous paintings by other artists and paints in his own way.
Picasso's paintings from different periods dominate today's art market, breaking all the price records imaginable. For example, in 2004 he bought his 1905 painting "The Boy with the Pipe" for $104 million, and his 1932 painting Nude, Green Leaves and Bust in 2010 for 106 million Today you can buy Picasso's painting at a public auction, but his most famous masterpiece has already occupied a place in private collections and among the best museums in the world.
