Five years after Italy exploded with fascist eggs, developer Rebel Developments announced that sniper elite series will be released on May 26, 2022, landing on PS5, XSX | S, PS4, XboxOne and PC platforms. For Xbox players, sniper elite 5 will also be released to join the XGP lineup. The game's pre-order bonus is still a traditional "Assassination of the Fuehrer" extra mission in the series.
Sniper Elite 5 is set in France in 1944, a year after Sniper Elite 4, and players still play as Carl Fairborn, an elite sniper from the Strategic Intelligence Agency. Prior to the famous "D-Day" Normandy landings, Karl would weaken nazi German defenses of the Atlantic barrier on the Brittany Peninsula while contacting French resistance groups to prevent Nazi Germany from obstructing plans for the Allied landings. The scenes in the game are modeled after real-life scenes from all over France.
Sniper Elite 5 will retain and enhance the series' featured "X-ray Kill Close-Up System", enhancing the trajectory and hit close-ups, and a new gun customization system that allows players to fine-tune their weapons. At the same time, the official will also add a new "invasion mode" to the PVP, which allows players to invade the battles of other players to fight.
