Thomas Ostenberg, who received his bachelor's degree from Principia College in Illinois, was a brilliant abstract figurative sculptor who spent his early career in business. He received his MBA in Finance from Stanford University in 1975 and served as Vice President of Corporate Banking at Citibank in Brazil and Spain from 1975 to 1986. From 1986 to 1990, he was an international financial advisor in New York, Brazil and Spain. In 1992, he entered the New York Studio School in New York to study painting, and began his serious pursuit of art. In 1994, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the Kansas City School of Art. Continuing his fine arts education, in 1997 he received the Masse Award.
